question about the vs proto shaft

compared to the nv shaft

I was checking out the vs shaft and currently have a driver with the NV 65 in it. And the shafts go up from 65, to 75, to 85, etc...

Now if I wanted to swap this out for a VS, would I go with the 60 or the 70? Because the VS start at 60, then 70, 80, etc..

Any insight would be great, thanks!!!!

Weight wise... go with the VS 70 to replace the NV 65. They will feel very similar. I replaced the NVS 65 with the VS Proto 70 and haven't looked back!

Weight wise... go with the VS 70 to replace the NV 65. They will feel very similar. I replaced the NVS 65 with the VS Proto 70 and haven't looked back!

Regarding flex, does the VS play stiffer than the NVS? I am in between the two, play an NV regular tipped and had no problems (other than trajectory/ballooning) with an NVS stiff. Both in FT-3 9.5. I would be playing this shaft in the new Ping Rapture.

After a few rounds, I can give an extended review.... so here goes...

 

I think the NVS 65 is an easier driver to turn over and hit a draw with, not that it can't be done with the VS Proto, but it seems a bit easier with the NVS 65. Probably due to the MUCH higher torque, 3.8 (NVS) vs. 2.8 (VS Proto 70).

 

I think the VS Proto 70 does play stiffer than the NVS 65, but it's also just as smooth. The VS Proto is not boardy in the least bit. The tip doesn't feel as stiff in the VS Proto as the NV, but it's noticeable more firm than the NVS.

Thank you for the reply. That helps. Now I just need to decide which way to go. I don't think I can have Ping tip a Regular. Given the length of the Ping Driver, maybe I go with a regular and have some local tip it? decisions, decisions...
