Why so many shafts with r7 460 TP?

Can't just be a volume issue
I was trying a bunch of 8.5 r7 460 TPs the other day. I was suprised to find out there are 5 different shafts offered. All have slightly different specs. Why so many, it can't just be an ability to supply issue. By the way the Mitsubishi Rayon RE AX TP 64 was measureably longer and definitely felt better. The other shafts were Mitsubishi Rayon RE AX TP 54, Fujikura RE AX TP 55, Fujikura RE AX TP 65, Fujikura RE AX TP 75. Seems like a little overkill for a driver that is probably at the end of it's run. Any ideas why so many versions of the same theme? By the way the faces didn't look exactly square on any of the ones I tried let alone open.

actually, that isn't that much of a range of shaft offerings. it's just variations in weight which would be a major factor in getting fit. some manufactures offer the ability to order custom shafts and the amount of shaft choices can easily becoming overwhelming. sometimes 10 different shafts, but with 3 or 4 weight options in each shaft (55g, 65g, 75g, 85g, etc.) also, i'm pretty sure the r7 460 has a slightly closed face, but i'm not sure if the 460 tp has an open face like the 425 tp.

 

as far as shafts, if you like the shaft you were trying out and it fit you well (optimizes distance & accuracy) then go right ahead. also, i don't think the 460 tp is at the end of its run.

On the contrary, I was shown the specs and it isn't just the weights that vary (which is probably within tolerances anyway) but the kick points and torques are different and much more so than the weights.
