Mixed shaft flex

Who uses different flex for woods and irons?
Have anyone of you a different shaft flex configuration between woods and irons?
I have always wondered if (for example) to have a regular flex for irons and stiff flex for graphite shafts in woods will complicate anything in the setup!
But I know for sure that some manufacturers Stiff flex is very close to the Regular Flex of others for Drivers and FW woods... While the Steel Shafts for irons is mostly constant as easier to produce!!
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks

Do whatever works for you. I use stiff driver and regular fairway wood. With the regular fairway I feel I can lay off a bit and not try to kill it - take a nice easy swing and just try to make good contact. Stiff irons - with regular 3,4 and 5 - same deal, make good contact with an easy swing and the reg shaft gets the ball a little higher a little quicker. Don't know if it's true but I heard that back in the day Jack Nicklaus used regular flex in his long irons. If you think you want to mix it up, give it a try and don't worry about it.

I've played stiff graphite in my woods and R flex steel in my irons (DGR300, Rifle 5.0, 1050GH R) on several occasions and it worked out just fine with slight differences in feel and ball flight. As you mentioned steel tolerances are pretty tight. With most of the steel iron shafts I've tried the difference between R and S is not that great because I don't try to hit my irons as hard as possible, if I've got a max 8 iron distance I'll almost always pull my 7 iron. However, several stock steel OEM shafts I've hit had R flex shafts that were way too soft for me to play comfortably (TM RAC OS, Cleveland TA6), so as you also mentioned it depends on the shaft.

I just ordered a 52* wedge in x-100 and I hope I made the right choice. The rest of my set are x-stiff graphite woods and x-100 irons. I have heard that some pros have softer wedge flexes than their irons. The guy at the golf shop told be that I should stick with the same shaft in my wedges that I would mostly have a full swing with and only go down one flex on my around the green wedge for feel. He said that full swing clubs need to have the same flex so that the distance gap between clubs is consistent.

Big proponent of that concept here. When I pull out my driver, I'm all about distance so I tend to put forth my best swing--tempered with mild control. Same-ish to an extent with my 3 wood and hybrid, but I like the X-stiff in those clubs mainly for increased torque and due to the length, increased headspeed is a given. With my irons, I'm not trying to go for distance--so stiff or weaker X-shafts help maintain feel in my irons--plus with steel, too high of torque is not an issue. But it's all about what you're comfortable swinging.
