Stop rust on raw wedges

Plenty of advice on how to speed up the rusting process on wedges, but does anyone know how to stop it altogether? Stripped my oil can vokeys overnight in Coca Cola and got them to a lovely raw finish with some fine wire wool, but now started playing with them and want to keep them in this condition.

I know people go to ridiculous lengths to get the look and feel of a rusted wedge, but I want to preserve the raw look throughout the damp Irish winter (& summer.)

I read something about using baby oil, but I don't know if this actually protects the club or is just a way of taking that special love we have for our clubs into dubious territory.....

Speaking of going to ridiculous lengths, i wanted to try something new. So, I put my old SV's in my pool overnight. On the top step so the heads were the only thing in the water. the next day, they came out with a really cool finish, because of the chlorine. its almost like a blue color. its awesome. Otherwise I dont know how to stop rusting. Keep 'em dry maybe? I dont know.

Stop rusting - dry them and clean them immediately after use at the range and course. Get one of those little nylon brushes that attaches to your on-course towel.

At home, get them out of the car immediately and make sure the dirt is off the club - clean and dry again - then gun oil - 2 drops and spread it alll over the head and hosel with your fingers. You will conserve it that way instead of a spray - or you can use WD-40 - I prefer gun oil.

I once used the baby oil on Scotty Studio Designs - but the gun oil only requires a drop or two.

That's the best advice, keep them clean and dry, and rust will stay away for longer.

When you strip the rust initially, you can also use naval jelly which has a higher concentration of phosphoric acid than coke and other products which will help keep rust away for longer.

Also if you get a little surface rust that you'd like to get rid of but don't want to take the time to soak it in naval jelly, some fine synthetic steel wool will take it right off.

Hope that helps.

Easy. Get Naval Jelly and some fine steel wool. Once a bit if rust starts again, use the naval jelly and within minutes after rinsing the rust is gone. Use the steel wool for an even cleaner look. If you wipe them off consistently and use these products your raw wedge will look new all of the time. No rust buildup!!

Eezox, best product to coat metal parts. Please don't use WD40, any person that has been around guns for long knows thats a no no.

Play in the afternoon, (with chrome wedges)

You KNOW as soon as you try to stop them from rusting, they're going to rust like crazy. Try to get them to rust, they stay nice and shiny.
