Game Enhancement Branding

Sorry for the confusing subject, but here is what I am getting at: I was going to get some Mizuno MX-23s as an "easy day" set of irons, supplanting my MP-60s. Then I learned about the soon to be released MP-25s, and decided to wait for them.

 

Well, they are here, but I just don't know. Besides the addition of the Mizuno "cat" logo on the sole of the club, it appears Mizuno is going headfirst into the gadget gear business. There is now a "hemi cog" label on each iron, and the "cavity pad" design is more about marketing than performance. Add the "grain flow forged" copy on the hosel and you've got more branding than a NASCAR ride.

 

I realize that these are "game enhancement" clubs, but I just don't like all that stuff staring at me when I'm thinking about my swing. Of course this is mirrored on Tour, with all the players positively logoed up the ying yang.

 

I want classic. I want game enhancement.

Very well said. Couldn't agree more. Where are the classic simple designs in irons we are looking for? No inserts, plates, plugs, weights etc.......just a classic lined iron for those of us that are not a single digit handicap but still good enough to want a clean iron.
