wasn't your ball flight before a high push slice? You didn't fix it yet?!?!
Ball flight before was a slippery yellow banana at times, and a straight fade majority of the time. Back then I only swung new-age metal clubs. My driver was mostly slicy, but the 5metal was a bullet-maker! Hmmmmmm, wonder how I would hit a metal club now?? Lol, or if I could even hit a metal club anymore since getting used to the antique stuff.

The metal days....

Ping,

In the last 2 shots, I see the front of your right foot raise. Are you wanting to push off the ball or roll the heel thru? Just wondering what your dynamic goal is.
Dynamic goal. Solid terminology for it.

If you slide more and turn less the right foot does stay flatter(lower body wise).

if you turn more and still push off the right foot won't be flat. Heel comes up early because I'm turning before the pivot point

The pivot also reacts to the arms. Hogan got to the pivot point from a laid off position and the heel comes up. Iteach was right. Hoggie is getting steeper. watch the handle.

But Hogan learned to hit hooks before he built that swing. Still not enough film of old hooky Hogan. I could use some of that

Hogan getting steeper? you mean after his layoff? if after layoff, yeah hes getting steeper...better be...or else he'll shank the ball hard...

this is why he layoff...so he can get steep and bang that face to the ball hard...
its not a layoff. You mean shallowing the shaft.

That's just an armswing trick and the handle still moves the same. There isn't enough time to re-route on the downswing.

you ever get the backswing right?
At this point, I'm satisfied with my backswing in a very general sense. But the specifics are still pissing me off. Backswing will do for now.
It's the lower body from the top down that interests me the most. I have to get it to a "generally ok" level.

Tonite my drill session consisted of a new set of custom drills. I'm combining things I learned in Take 37 and Take 41. Merging both movements and both thoughts into one. I also made an important tweak to the takeaway.

I had time to sit back and look back at a lot of my old vids. This stuff is soooooooo intriguing. It's amazing what I've taught myself over the past year.

Note to self: tighten elbow at the top.

I think you should put more attention to your lower body movement. Specially to the right knee path

Like I said earlier somewhere, this should be built up from the ground to the hands and if you change that lower body action later, you have to change all the muscular action in the chain also.
Yep, I know what you mean T. There's some lower stuff added to the new drill, but I haven't added everything. Wanna make a change at a time so I can really concentrate and focus on muscular feelings.

Ahhhh, so Hogan was a regripper of the club during the swing. Lol, I was always intrigued by that crazy lag and floating club. I thought he had some kind of special thing going on. Nothing special about regripping. Ive heard guys say that he could bend his thumb to his forearm. wonder where that rumor started lol. You gotta excuse me for learning about this so late into the project, cause I know everyone's gonna tell me that its in 5 lessons book. But I can only use video analysis while building my swing.

And this regripping got me real curious and baffled. If there is a change in the grip during the swing, then how can he or anyone that does it be accurate with striking the ball. After some seated back-of-hand-to-chin/elbow-to-thigh thinking, it started to make a little more sense. It's the same phenomenon as the left foot not staying in full contact with the ground. You would think theoretically that there would be major inaccuracies if that whole foot didn't remain firmly planted, but the many successful "lifters" have proven that science wrong.

Where/how did you "learn" that he regripped it?

Analyzing video. Definitely cannot be seen in real-speed footage. Only in the slow mo's. and even in most of the slomos, can't be seen cause its hiding behind his head. You just gotta know what to pay attention to.
