Course recommendations please

Planning a trip to the Homestead and Greenbrier resorts. We'd like to play a total of 7 courses during the trip and have never been to the area. So we have a few questions.

There seem to be 4 can't miss courses between the two resorts:

Greenbrier and Old White at the Greenbrier
Cascades and Old at the Homestead

I have read mixed reviews of both the Meadows course at the Greenbrier and the Lower Cascades at the Homestead. Would you agree? Are either these courses sort of the "little brother" of the others? Or are they definitely worth playing?

Courses were are considering adding to the list are at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels. Does anyone have an opinion to share on these? Which of the courses there would be the best?

If there are other courses in the vicinity we should add, please let us know. Thanks in advance for any advice or helpful hints. Cost isn't that significant a factor, we just want to play the best courses in the area.

I would agree that the meadows and lower cascades aren't anything special especially compared to the other 4. I haven't played glade springs but I have heard it is pretty nice and I believe jim justice who owns the greenbrier recently bought glade springs so I would assume it isn't too shabby. There is a ski resort called Snowshoe alittle over an hour from the homestead that has a golf course named "the Raven". I have never played it but I have heard it is great and I think it has one a few awards plus you could get a place to stay pretty inexpensive since it is the off season for the resort.

Hi Guys, I just played The Old White course at the Greenbrier today. In great shape! I would skip the Meadows, The greenbrier and White are much more challenging. I've played the Raven, very nice. Lots of elevation and scenery. I have also played all three courses at Glade Springs. The cobb is the public course and has large greens and a classic layout. The Stonehaven and Woodhaven courses at the glades are awesome! I actually prefer these mountain layouts compared to the Greenbrier course. The greens on Woodhaven are like a sheet of glass!

Played the Meadows a couple of months ago (right before the Classic). I really enjoyed it, but as others have said it is not the Old White or The Greenbrier. It's worth playing if the other courses are booked or you would like some variety. And IMO, it's better than driving to Daniels to play Glade.

Also, a really fun course in the area is the Elks Golf Course at 219 and I-64 in Lewisburg. Nobody is going to mistake it for the Old White. But, I always enjoy playing there. Very short and not a flat lie to be found anywhere. But, when I'm in the area, I usually fish more than golf.
