MX20 vs MP60 vs MP67

Strange....

I currently play the MX20's.....I am an 8 handicap.

I have been eyeing the MP60's to go to something with a less offset and still have some forgiveness. Today I hit the MP60's and MP67's (for the heck of it). Surprisingly, the MP67's felt great and the MP60's were so so.

Not sure going to a small blade like the 67 makes sense for an 8 handicap...but the 60's are pretty much out in my opinion and I would rather stick to the 20's than go to them. Thoughts on the 67's for an 8 handicap? They felt solid...but not sure if that is too much stick for an 8....since as you know a typical 8 handicap will have days where you hit it solid and days where you are off a bit on your irons. Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

Why not stick with the 20's. All people who I've known with those irons have loved them and not wanted to change - even to MP32's and MP60's.

 

The 67's are MP33 replacements if I recall correctly so mat be a bit much for an 8 handicapper. You could always go for the 32's.....

I dont think that it is a fair assumption to look at ones handicap and say they should be playing a specific type of iron. I know players who are higher handicaps and they are great ball strikers in their irons, but awful off the tee and cant putt worth a lick.

I am a 7 handicap and have no trouble at all playing blades and I much prefer them to any cavity back. If I were you I would try to demo a set of 32's to see how they feel to you and see how well you can hit them. I dont believe the 67's will be much harder to hit than the 32's.

Just my thoughts after seeing many different swings and fitting people to many different types of sticks.

i am above 10 on the handicap scale, and i play MP-37's with MP-67's on the way. i would not trade blades for anything else. my problem with my game has always been with my driver, and around the greens. the driver issue since getting my new driver is being fixed (in a good way), and slowly my around the green play is getting better.

 

all of that said, if you like the way the 67's felt then go for them. in my opinion it is all down to feel, and what gives you confidence.

An 8 handicap should have no problem playing the mp67s IMO.

I have to agree.. Do not judge someone based on what their handicap is... Typically when someone is between a 5-8 handicap, their weakness is NOT ballstriking.. 90% of the time it is short-game/mental related....

 

With that said.. If you like the irons, get them. Everyone else's opinions are not relevant at all. They know nothing of your game, your swing, or YOU personally!!

 

Will there be a learning curve? Sure.. Will it be worth it? Maybe...

 

Bottom line.. the decision should be made by how comfortable YOU are.. Not what the popular opinion is. :cheesy:
