How fast can you type?

Typing is a vital part in todays business world... how fast can you all type. Me myself am an average of around 120 wpm, and have gotten over 154 wpm before...

I think 150 is pretty respectable. Although I work for a pretty big organization, some of our best and brightest hunt and peck.

 

I think problem solving and logical thinking are far more important, so work on those before you get carpel tunnel.

Definately, you should be looking for a job where someone ELSE does your typing for you.

 

Hopefully they're not going to sit you down at a keyboard at your interview and clock how long it takes you to type up a page.

 

Anything above 50 WPM is more than adequate to suceed in the real world.

About 100 WPM....I've been doing it for 18 years so I have a LOT of practice. When I joined the AF, I only typed 30...

But with all the instant messaging and other online games, typing is important, and if you use correct posture, you wont get carpletunnel

I was around 30 WPM or so when I was done grade 8, and I haven't checked since (I'm now in gr. 11), but it's faster. Maybe 60 wpm now? (maybe 50-something)

My typing finger gets all sore when I wave it around poking at random keys like `, j or {. I started to type what you are reading about 30 minutes ago, nope 37 minutes ago though I am still learning the Dvorak layout. But I just realized the paradox of this post. The older this post gets, the faster I will have typed. in fact in 38 minutes I will have typed this in negative 1 minute thus shattering einsteins theory of relativity. Take that Mrs. Barbara Blackburn!

My mom taught me how to type. She's the fastest typer I've ever seen. Well over 150 wpm. She used to be a typesetter for a newspaper. Back in the day before all this publishing software. She had to type up all the copy and stuff and put it on film.

 

In 9th grade I had to take a typing class in summer school so I could get extra credits and I finished the book on the first day. I was just sitting there and my teacher thought I was slacking off. I was just waiting for the bell to ring. She sent me outside to sit and wait until class was done. After class she took me to the principals office to kick me out of her class. I had no idea what I had done or why she was upset. The principal and her took me back to the room so I could get my stuff and leave. The principal saw the stack of papers on my desk and said, "What's this?". I told him it was the book we were learning from, done.

 

He looked at the teacher and said, yes, he can leave, because he's done with the class. He'll receive full credit. Thanks Ian, you may go.

 

125 wpm before hurting my wrist the other week. 95 now. Make me pretty accurate though.
