Nike 20xi-s vs Nike One Tour
I am trying to decide which golf ball to stick with...
I started out playing the Pro V-1 and then switched to the TM Penta and really like them for a while, then when the new Nike 20xi-s ball came out i decided i would buy a sleeve and try them, then i bought a box, and then another box. I grew to like the feel of them alot and i felt very confident using the 20xi-s even though i lost distance on my drives, but i got used to it. Recently i got a free box of Penta's and since I only have a few decent 20xi's left i figured i would just stick to the Penta for a while but they just arent what I remember them being. I would really like to not spend $45 for a dozen balls (but i will if i have to) so im considering giving the Nike One Tour (Red Box) a try. Can anyone compare the One tour to the 20xi-s?

Thanks

Driver- Taylormade SLDR 10.5 Matrix X-Con 7.1 x-stiff

I guess i will just have to go buy a box and then compare them. For $25, the Nike one tour would be a great ball for me if they play similar to the 20xi-s

I compared the s to the x for many rounds a few months back. The s feels a bit harder off the driver than I remember the tour being..or feeling. Around the greens the new s is fantastic, and in organized testing the new nike balls were a bit shorter off the driver and longer with irons than prov. I, however, love the penta after getting the two sleeve promo last month. I would buy it for sure over the nike if I could buy 2 get 1 free. Lastly, OP may have read Glover went back to tour d after having issues with hitting new version too far!

IMO the 20XI-S plays more like the Tour D than the regular Tour. I know that sounds strange, but I think both versions of the 20XI are lower spinning than the previous comparable Tour models. I've been playing the Tour D for the last 18 months or so and love it. I tried both versions of the One Tour and felt that the regular version spun way too much. I was asked by GolfWRX and Nike to test both versions of the 20XI. Bottom line on those is that I didn't get along with the X (felt harsh and didn't spin enough) and ended up giving away the remaining 3 sleeves. I did like the S but felt it wasn't an improvement over the Tour D, especially considering the price tag of $45 a dozen compared to the Tour D at $20 a dozen.

I feel that I can play either the Tour D or 20XI-S and get basically the same results. The S spins slightly more than the Tour D around the greens, but they play very similar from tee to green. For me it comes down to price and I'll take 2 dozen Tour D for the price of one dozen 20XI.

Try to get a sleeve of each - regular Tour and Tour D - and see which works best. I'd be surprised if you like the regular Tour more than the Tour D.

On a side note, I also have a few dozen Penta and really like them. I got them as a birthday gift plus two sleeves from the TM giveaway. I could play this ball regularly if/when I run out of Tour D.

Good luck!
Kevin

I think i am going to go buy a sleeve of the following balls:
Bridgestone E-5
Bridgestone B330 RX
Bridgestone B330-s
Nike One Tour
Nike One Tour D

If anyone has compared any of these please chime in. Or list another ball for me to try out. the most important thing im looking for is a good amound of spin on wedges and feel off the putter, I can deal with a loss of distance with the driver cause i hit the ball pretty decent anyway.
Thanks

I have tried the following:
Pro V-1
Pro v-1x
Penta
Nike 20xi-s

I score well with the B330 RX. It goes straight, long and has decent bite. The One Tour D has more bite, goes long but more side spin. The One Tour has a soft feel, tons of spin, flies higher, but shorter. But that's just me.

I play whatever is relatively cheaper between the Penta, ProV-1x and the Nike one Tour. In Texas (don't know about the other states, but wouldn't think it would be differenct), the Nike One Tour is $27 a dozen, so I play that most often. I usually get as many holes as I want to out of a golf ball, may be a windy day and lose 1 or 2, but for the most part I can make it a round or 2 with a ball. Therefore, cost isn't the biggest motivating factor, and I buy 2 or 3 dozen when one of those 3 go on sale.

The Nike One Tour to me, is plenty long off the tee, I haven't noticed any significant change in distance, wedge / scoring iron spin is comparable to the Penta or PV-1x, comparable, not equal, definitely releases more around the green than the PV-1x. I found the Nike One tour -D didn't perform around the green, nor was it significantly long enough to make me forget that it didn't play as I was expecting around the green.

Driver spin is best on the Penta, but the Nike holds its own.

Tested the Bridge B330-s, and found it spun way more than what I was looking for, esp on the driver and mid irons. I actually got the ball to come back with a 5 iron in winter (S. Texas winter, so 45-50*). That set me off of them. However, I play in a lot of wind, and don't always hit the dead center of the driver face, so excessive driver spin is a constant battle for me.

I have not tested the Bridge E(5), but I do use the E(6) when I play in a scramble for the long drive contest, if that's any indication of distance and driver spin. I find the E(6) to be about 15 yds longer off the tee than any other ball I use. Swing speed is consistently 109- but I can ramp it up 4 or 5 mph, if I don't really care about where it goes save long. It simply does not perform around the green the way I like to play chips and pitches. I don't like stop dead (I'm not that accurate), but I do use spin when I'm fighting a slope or tight pin placement & the E(6) won't check and stop the way the other beforementioned balls will.

Issue with the Penta is the seam down the middle of the golf ball, found 2 or three out of 3 dozen where the seam actually split, not a huge spin inducing split, but a small split easily seen.

on a side note:

I also love the simplicity of the markings on the Nike. It has a swoosh, a number and a small alignment aid that reads nike one tour. That to me is very important on putting, I want to look down and see white, no goofy markings. And a pure white spot is hard to find when you have to stamp Titleist, Bridgestone or Taylormade on a golf ball.

The Nike ONE Tour is one of my go to balls. I have found that it is super consistent and I always know what to expect out of it. One the other hand sometimes a Pro V1 will hop and stop, the next time it will release 4-5 and then again it will rip back off the green. Same contact, height, ect... just does not fit me well. The ONE Tour does though I always know that I can trust the shot, not what an I going to get this time?

Comparing the ONE Tour to the 20XI-S I have found much much more wedge spin into the green with the 20XI-S. So much that I have not used the ball at all in the softer conditions we have had here. It is a bullet off the driver but I would not pay the additional $ for it unless I played on hard-pan lightening fast greens and the max spin was needed. I feel it has less spin of the driver than the 20XI but the 20XI has more spin into the green. I have not noticed a significant difference between the two around the green.

So far i bought a sleeve of the Bridgestone e5 balls, ( i have only played 1 round with them) I really like the feel of these from driver to putter, for me they dont spin as much on short chip shots as the 20xi-s does, but they still hold the green pretty good. The e5 did seem to be a little longer (driver-wedges) than the other balls i have played in the past. I compared the e5, the srixon zstar x, and a nike pd soft on my second shot with my 9 iron on a couple holes and i hit the e5 about 5 yards further than the others, the pd soft and zstar were about the same distance wise but the srixon did not release as much as the nike pd soft or the e5. Below is a pic of my 200 yard 5 iron tee shot, When i use the 20xi-s my ball will usually hit and stop and be about a ball or two away from my mark. I cant complain about the e5, i played very well with them today, for the price they might just be my new ball but i still have all the others to test out. i will be going to golf galaxy this week to get a sleeve of the Bridgestone B330 RX, Bridgestone B330-s, Nike One Tour, and the Nike One Tour D and compare them the next time i get a chance to play.

I bought a box of the Bridgestone B330-S balls, they feel really good. It may just be me but it feels dead off the putter?? i keep leaving putts short and feel like i have to swing hard to get it to go anywhere..maybe it just cause im not used to them, i dont know.. Has anyone else had this feeling using this ball? Everything else about the ball was great though..
