Breaking 100-90-80-70

well, I picked up the game around 2004 when a couple of my soccer buddies look forward to our retirements on soccer field -:drinks: Starting to take it seriously last year and began practice on range twice a week and play on course once a week.

break 100 -- Could not recall when I did it, it should be around 3 months after I started play on course

break 90 -- Sometime Autumn of last year, about 6 months to 9 months.

break 80 -- my New Year resolution still up there. My best score is 81 right before my appendicitis surgery around late June. The 2 month sideline made my game pretty rusty when I came back around late August. Since then I have been around low to mid 80s.

 

Lack of practice and play time is the main reason I could not break 80 barrier for this year. Oh, wait, I still have several rounds left before they close the course here at NJ. Who knows what can happen.

Well, I started playing around 7 years ago, vut I never took the game seriously until about 2004. I was shooting in the 100's in '04, but then I started taking the game seriously and started lowering my score to the mid 90's. Since then I have worked diligently to improve my ballstriking, but now I have to work on my putting.

i broke 100 after about a month and a half...

 

my best score to date is 90, after 5 months... i plan to break that 90 mark this season yet, if it kills me...

 

and we play all out balls down, no fluff, no mulligans, retee on OB shots... i play with some sticklers, but i like it that way...

Broke 70 about 10yrs ago when i was 15.......

Trying to break 60 now!

Shot a 61 to get the course record about 6 wks ago, would have done it apart from a stupid double bogey! (the only blemish on the card!)

Took about 4 months (August 2002) to shoot a 99 on a municipal links course out in Katy, TX

 

Went out and bought new clubs since I figured out I was actually good at this sport:

Callaway Big Bertha II Pro Series - 9.5' with callaway firm flex shaft

Callaway X-16 Pro Series - 3-W - Rifle 6.0

Odyssey White Hot #2 - center shafted @ 34"

Reshafted my BBII with Grafalloy Blue - S flex @ 44"

Bought a new 3-wood, Callaway Steelhead III with stock Cally firm shaft

(Playing from various tee-boxes at this point, 75% of the time playing the tips)

After that, my golfing buddy (Best friend and roommate) had a falling out and I started playing less. In 2003 (the year of my best progress, I was playing 5-6 timer PER WEEK).

 

2006:

I'm currently a 10 handicap. Now I'm a graduate with a real job and play about once a week if I'm lucky. :drinks: Very disappointing to be shooting in the 80's after breaking par regularly. Oh well! Hopefully I'll start gaming again sometime soon! And my current bag (I might not play as much, but I AM an equipment whore!!) - WITB

 

Yay, that was fun to re-live all of that!! It's neat to see how fast my prgress was! :cheesy: Makes me wish I would have kept up my game... maybe I'd be on a mini-tour or somethin these days. **sigh**
