In town for a morning, need something to do

I'm arriving next Friday in Bloomington, IN for a friend's wedding, but it isn't until 430pm. While I did go to college at IU, I didn't play very much those days or pay attention to courses near Indianapolis. Does anyone have any good recommendations for me, any price is fine. I was considering Heartland crossing as I'd like to keep it south of the city if possible (IU is approx 1 hr from there).

I haven't ever played there, but I've seen a lot of pictures, and if I'm ever in the area, my number one choice is Purgatory.

Decent rates, and it looks to be one heck of a challenging course.

North of Bloomington yet south of Indy I would suggest going to Legends in Franklin, Zoeller's Timbergate in Edinburgh, or Martinsville GC in, well, Martinsville.

It's a little further, but you could play Brickyard Crossing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was re-designed by Pete Dye and six of the holes are inside of the track. I've played there many times, and it's a really nice course.

Is Brickyard worth going to if you are not a racing fan? No love for Heartland Crossing yet, huh? Sure looks nice on the website. The Fort looks like the perfect course for what I want, but the aeration schedule has it going on the weekend prior to my playing there; I might play there anyway.

The BRickyard is absolutely a must play as well. Both times I have made plans to play there in the last few months, the plans changed! I heard the conditions there are top shelf!

The Brickyard and The Fort are both awesome but probably too far away for you. Purgatory is definately too far away. Timbergate is between Columbus, IN and Indy and is nice but not top notch. Links at Heartland Crossing is your best bet. It is well located for you and a great, unique course. I have played all the top public courses in Indy and Heartland Crossing is my favorite. You will get a workout just climbing in and out of the bunkers. If you are not a single-digit, you will get abused.

Heartland is ok...lots of doglegs though...need to play multiple times to get a feel of how much to cut off and etc. Brickyard is best conditioned course in Indy. The Fort is a great course and value, too bad about aeration though.

Up in Carmel, which may be a little too far for you is Prairie View.
