Ben Sayers Mentor irons

Never seen these before...

I picked these up on my local buy-n-sell website a few days ago. The set is 3-PW and seems to be in nice condition other that a little of the usual bag-chatter associated with soft irons. I threw some fresh grips on them and promptly handed them over to a bladeless friend who needed to "see the light". (Friends don't let friends play cavity backs! :-) )

I did hit a few balls with them before I handed them over and I must say I was rather impressed. They felt good in my hands and were smooth and buttery when I hit them. The shafts seemed to be good for me too.

Is anyone else out there hitting balls with Ben Sayers "Mentor" irons? These are a very sexy looking blade in my opinion - nice and plain. Too bad I gave them away... :-)

A nice se of irons - I had a pro friend who had a set, must have been in the late 80s/early 90s. I think they saw some light usage on the European Tour at that time, Colin Brooks was a staff player (he was coached by Bob Torrance)

Yeah, the faces all looked like that. Drat! I should have kept those things... :-)

I thought they looked very nice all plain-jane like that. I wonder if the Iron Factory could weld the lettering gone then re-chrome? Wow - with nothing but a club number on there they'd be even cleaner looking than Scratch SB1's! I'll bet they arent any less forgiving either.

I'd better start trying to get them back.... lol
