Finding faults. Current swing.

I have been stuggling as of late. I currently play around an 11-12 handicap and I have been looking consistency with my irons. I usually hit a slight fade but lately I have been pulling a lot and hitting big fades so my consistency is crap. I have noticed that I am not maintaining a good lag and that my tempo is FAST. Anything else you see that I can work on? I don't think about it when I am swinging, but it seems like I am getting trapped on my follow throught when I look at the video. Sorry about the iphone quality. I can't find the casio I bought for the life of me.

Problems
Not enough hip tilt at address.Head dips a little going back resulting in your left knee going to the ball a little.Too much foward press resulting in too inside of a takeaway. Not enough wrists set at the top.Transition starts incorrectly with the hands and arms.Very little rotation on the downswing.Loss of posture at impact ,along with disconnected arms and a flip

Change your setup a little ,minimize the forward press, start your transition from the ground up and rotate aggressively through the ball

Suggestions
1. toe out your left foot 1/4 turn towards the target(22 degrees). This will help you rotate on the downswing and tighten up your backswing.
2.kick your right knee down and in at setup. This will tilt your hips slightly (about 8 degrees) away from your target and align your lower and middle spine, because your shoulders should also be tilted the same amount.(shoulders and hips should be parallel at setup). This spine tilt will make it much easier to pivot back without dipping your head.At the same time it will brace your right knee .Most of this brace of the right knee must be maintained throughout your backswing.
3.Nothing the matter with a forward press.,but in your case you are overdoing it.The further that your hands start in front of the club ,the more likely that you start your takeaway too far inside. So stop your forward press when your hands are just off your inner left thigh
4.Partially because of #3 above you take the club too inside.NOt hugely but enough.Until 8:00 there should be no wrist or hand movement at all
5 .By the top you need to get your wrists fully set. Some pros have their wrists fully set by 9:00,but this is an individual thing
6 You need to start your transition by really pressuring the LEFT HEEL.This is really a "combo move".This combo move will first help you to move laterally to establish your left pivot point over your left heel /ankle.Second it will allow you to rotate around this left(downswing) pivot. The downswing starts from the feet and not the upper body. The lateral move will be no trouble for you as lateral motion almost completely dominates your downswing. You are going to have to teach yourself how to rotate much more after you make the lateral first move.
LAG IS A RESULT OF THE PROPER DOWNSWING PIVOT,NOT AN END TO ITSELF

drills
setup-Dan Whittakers "clap hands drill" in his video "setup"--Youtube
Martin Chucks "pro impact drill".For now just practice the 9-3 or 8-2 version of this video in order to get the feel of rotation on the downswing, while maintaining the right elbow /hip connection.Youtube
Punisher drill AKA extended club drill.Search for "punisher or punisher drill " using the search function on golfwrx.Select "Is this an anti flipping drill, pictures included"1/2 swings at 1/2 speed.Pad the extended rod or shaft.Make sure to start the club back straight since you are starting with the club against your left side.Lack of rotation and/or flipping will result in painful left ribs.

Thanks for the reply. Saddly I didn't get this until after I was back from the course today. I did work for a short time, 304-40 swings thinking about what you said. I know that is not enough time to make change but does this look any better?

Hand position at setup better.Less inside going back Better rotation through the ball.Rotation going back worse.Setting up with your lower and middle spine aligned and slightly tilted away from your target wil lower and move your head slightly to the right at setup. This will eliminate your head dipping going back and help clear up your backswing rotation fairly quickly.
