Off to Orlando in March for Spring Break

Has anybody played Orange County National or Celebration Golf Club? These are the two main courses our team is looking at playing during the week. We're staying at the villas in Caribe Cove Resort - going to be a hell of a lot better than staying in a hotel like last year. Our main goal was to go to PGA Village, but costs were a little too much this year, still pumped though.

Orange County National is definitely worth checking out - hosts Q school on alternating (?) years and will test your game for sure. Celebration is typically in very good condition and is a nice layout. It's been a few years since I've been in the area, but some others down that way worth looking into are Southern Dunes, Metrowest, Shingle Creek, and Champions Gate (International Course).

Stay away from Falcons Fire. Not worth the high $$.

Play Orange County for sure. Best open to the public course in Orlando without a doubt. I would skip Celebration and play Southern Dunes. My personal opinion on Celebration is that it is just an extension of the Disney resort courses..nothing special and you'll forget about it 10 minutes after you leave the property.

I'll be going down this week and staying over th weekend. OCN is a for sure but I was thinking grand cypress. Haven't read much about southern dunes but that doesn't mean anything.

Up for anything nice, price not a factor.

GolfDoggie pretty much nailed it so long as you add in the New course at Grand Cypress. I played Shingle Creek around Christmas and loved it.

Celebration is fine but not special.

OCN is special. Very special. Both courses.

I think I remember their trailer still there. I will be going there tomorrow for a lesson. Anything you want me to find out for you?

I prefer the OCN courses to Celebtration, but Celebartion is not a bad course. I always seem to have a good round there. Here are links to photos and favorite Orlando courses site:

thanks for the offer. I didnt remember posting thatquestion before going out. Saw the trailer out on the range. I am looking specifically to find a good fitter with a large selection of high end shafts/heads and an outdoor range.

There are at least two and sometimes more fitters out there on the range. I honestly don't know which one is the best. I've watched them do fittings and the all use a trackman on the range which I like.

I had my fitting done by Randal Doucette over at the Faldo Institute. They also use the Trackman on an outdoor range. I went to him because he was recommended by a friend of mine who was a former pro. Also, anyone good enough to personally build Faldo's clubs is good enough for my sad game. They have a great practice facility there as well (though not as huge as OCN) and it's in the city.
