Bushnell 1600 packaging. Help Please!

Ok, I am not sure about the Bushnell 1600 that I just received. I purchased it brand new from a reputable golf retailer. When I opened the box, the 9V battery was just lying there. Not in a package, zip baggie or box. My first impression is "did I get a used unit". Everything else looks fine. I called Bushnell and the guy said that he doesn't think they would ever put a battery just loose in the box. The only problem is that he didn't sound confident in his answer or knew anything about the products that he was selling.

So what I need to know from anyone who has purchased the 1600, is how was your battery packaged? I just want to know if it was loose like mine, and then I know my unit is fine, or do I need to return mine to the store.

Talked to a guy at my pro shop and he opened one to check. He says brand new in the box the battery is loose and unsecured. No bag or wrapping.

I just ordered one myself thinking the exact same thing. He unit was also in the fanny pack too which I thought was odd. Returned it, got another, and same. Loose batt and unit in case. Also my main reason for return is that the laser lens looks scratched in sunlight, but it looks he same as well on other models.

If you buy from Target online, and return it to the store, they automatically put it on clearance. So, order for $500, return to store, and repurchase same unit after return for $350. I didn't do this, but the cashier gave me the option. FYI

Thank you so much for the info. I actually went to Golfsmith today and asked if they would open one up for me and I found the same thing. This makes me feel a lot better about my purchase and not return it. Which is a good thing considering I got the slope edition brand new for $275.
