Swing Help
Hi everyone,

The below will link you to quite a few videos I've taken with the TW my swing app. I have issues with my clean, and consistent contact with the ball. Also, I noticed that after contact is made with the ball my left arm tucks inside. Is this from the lack of an efficient hip turn?

My handicap is horrible, and I'm just looking to get better. Any comments and/or suggestions are welcomed.

couple things i think you can work on....

the biggest issue and thing that will create all sorts of consistency/contact problems is a reverse pivot. from about halfway up in your backswing to halfway down in your thruswing your head and upper center is just diving behind the ball, away from the target. that means all the weight is going back there too and i'd guess that you're pushing off your right toe a lot in the downswing to counteract that....as opposed to pivoting through on your left ankle. most players on tour will dip their heads back a little with a driver in the downswing to get behind the ball and create some power....but not with irons. it'll cause you to hit shots way fat, and once your brain figures that out....in order to avoid hitting 3" behind the ball it'll subconsciously get the left arm to break down and the hands to flip at the ball to make contact....and then you get thin weak shots instead.

your shoulder turn in the backswing is a bit flat/not perpendicular to your spin. you can work on turning your left shoulder more under your chin in the backswing instead of out in front of you. and then on the downswing you're dropping your right shoulder down and under instead of simply turning back around, which is sort of tied in to the first issue. it gets way stuck under and behind you....and since you have ribs, it has nowhere to go but stall and then your hands takeover.

so, i'd suggest a little more spine tilt away from the target at address, and then simply work on getting the club to the top without moving your head back, keep the flex in your right knee with some weight on the inside of your right foot....then weighting your left ankle and pivoting through on that with a deep left hip (behind you) in the downswing. with how much you drop your head back now, you may need to feel like your head and shoulders are moving/sliding towards the target as you turn in the downswing and your right shoulder is working through really high. the chicken wing/flip/contact should begin to right themselves when you can keep your head laterally in the same spot and get your weight on almost all on your left side at impact.

These are fantastic suggestions! Thank you so much for this. I will practice these pointers and post and updated video in a month or so. Thanks again.
