Club fitting at Urban Golf Smithfield.

I went for my first fitting session yesterday with Lee Porter who is now working out of Urban Custom Clubs at Urban Golf as well as Hylands golf academy in Essex. They have some really cool kit there, including Yonex ezone 380 drivers, and a set of Miura 501,s that had been blacked out by James Patrick.

 

First of all we chatted for about 15 minutes about what I wanted from a set of clubs. I've always chopped and changed a lot, and had various clubs fitted, but never a whole set. As I put it to him, I've never had 13 matching grips.

 

Then he started analyzing my current clubs, frequency, swing weight etc.

Once warmed up he took some data on the flightscope. My biggest inconsistency was with my angle of attack, and he felt the dynamic golds in my irons weren't helping at all.

 

He made some shaft suggestions and I saw some instant improvements. While my best shots were with c tapers s flex, I also had some shockers. My most consistent shots were with Nippon modus 3 x flex. These felt fantastic.

We then got some driver data. I was spinning it too high, but more importantly It was too long and light.

I'm going back next week to try my current 6 iron, with his suggested shaft, a Nippon modus 3 x flex hard stepped. I'm going to try an accra dymatch in my driver.From there we will build some clubs, and then work on gapping.

 

It was a great session, I really liked Lee's approach too fitting. He said it would be very easy to fit me in to stuff that would technically work, but would feel dead. I wouldnt have thought of trying the modus 3, and while everyone respects the quality of Accra shafts, it's not as if there is much buzz about them. I'll update this thread after my next session.

I didnt. Yesterday was about getting my current numbers. I was told my current head is pretty decent for me, but I'm getting a bit of an itch. It's only a small thing but I really don't like alignment aids on my driver. That said I think r11s looks great. Go figure!

Went and hit the 6 iron yesterday. Modus 3 spins less, launches lower, and has a decent feel. I need to test for a couple of weeks before we settle and choose some heads.

Dymatch 2.0 st ordered for driver through hybrids. Yonex
Ezone fairway feels awesome. Goes like Stink as well. Will probably go with this, and will try the new tm drivers when I go back.
