.....not that I dislike KJ or would ever wish him harm....

 

But if he wins this week playing the new Swoosh Sumo, I don't know if I'll be able to stand the marketing assault that Nike will launch on the golfing public. I can see it now, magazines, newspapers, TV ads, radio spots, billboards, matchbooks, table tents, urinal cakes....it just won't stop.

 

We'll have to hear every golf announcer talk about how square drivers are the 'shape of the future' and how it's either 'ruining the game' or 'revolutionizing golf'.

 

Not to mention the old fart golf writers will have a field day with the whole square driver craze...

 

Not meant to rant, I'm just afraid....very afraid. :)

i'm a nike fan, and even i'm worried what might happen, but i do like kj's game and am happy he is playing well.

 

look at this way, take it now with a kj win before tiger wins, because as soon as he puts it into play and wins, it won't be pretty - no pun intended.

Just like the Hi-Bore? I like it myself but what a flop!! Golfsmith is only giving $79 on a perfect shape Hi-Bore with a upgrade shaft. If drivers keep coming out as fast as they do the value of drivers will keep falling as fast as they come out. Funny thing is they keep coming out and a lot of people keep going back to warm and fuzzy. Im sure you all have drivers tht you keep going back to. I am such a golf nut that yes I will to go through the normal new technology tryouts. Will even end up buying a few, but they never are worth $399, $499 ticket price. Well I look forward to all the skullduggery yet to come!!

I agree. The Ft-I...$500 I heard? Maybe more. The prices are crazy. You get brand new 905R's for like $200 on ebay now. I would never go to a store and lay down $400 for a driver...that's crazy.

A) i totally agree with that square drivers are very scary, i do not want to ever use one personally unless they become the norm and

B) just thinking about it though, if its so good then why fear it? its so simple but i know that i and many other ppl here will think the opposite.

Saw Callway rep the other day, he said FT-i probably going to retail for around $600 or so. For those that are saving for square driver.

You are right on. I can't believe how these company strike up the marketing blitz when they get a win.

Nike is as bad as the rest, but Titleist is king...I might throw up if I see one more "#1 ball on tour". Give it us a break. :)

People do not like the IDEA of a Square Driver because of the Following...

1) Looks...it is UGLY and Unconventional

2) Nike and Callaway released them before Taylor/Titleist/Cobra/Ping.

 

IMO...IF another company came out with this product they would accept this much easier. That is too bad because it looks like Nike is leading the way with Innovation.

I am the opposite..I was pulling for a NIke win because there are too many NIke haters on golf boards...Not you obviously..your reasons are well understood, but there seems to be boards dedicated to bashing Nike...
