Courses in Stockton, Ca area

Going out for my buddies 40th birthday in April. Won't be able to get down to Pebble so trying to find something within about an hour from Manteca/ Stockton that is a nice course.

 

 

Any rec's are very much appreciated.

I agree with PR123. It's in Stockton.

Roddy Ranch (Brentwood) is always a decent course in pretty good condition (quick greens!). You can also head out to Wente Vineyards or Poppy Ridge in the Pleasanton area, if you want.

I agree with the courses listed here:

Reserve at Spanos Bay - Stockton. great course - moderately priced. (can get windy)
Roddy Ranch - Brentwood - 45 mins drive West (this is my top three favorite course in the Bay Area). Sloped and agreed on the fast greens (can also get pretty windy). usually under $40
Poppy Ridge - Livermore - 45 Mins drive West - NCGA (USGA course) - pretty challenging, fast greens
Wente - Livermore - Is a nice course but pretty darned expensive and not challenging enough unless you play from the extended tips. I think those tees pissed off the Nationwide Tour to not come back. At least two fairways need a 280 carry to reach

Those not mentioned that should not be missed:

Stevinson Ranch - 1-1.25 hours drive South - under $60 - Its usually listed in the top Public course listings in California / US ([url="http://www.golfcalifornia.com/departments/features/top-public-golf-courses-golf-world-rankings-10576.htm"]http://www.golfcalif...kings-10576.htm[/url]) - don't miss it

Diablo Grande - Troon Company Golf - 45mins -1 hr drive South. It has two courses - Ranch and Legends. Ranch is supposedly harder, but the opposite for myself. Anyway, pretty cheap as well - especially for Troon. ~$40-70.
