Took up golf about three years ago b-cause of boyfriend. Didnt love him (he's gone), but I still love golf! Gr8 moment? Broke 100 this January!

2 ppl have told me bout this site. That it is a place to learn. Just hope u guys don't think the questions I ask aren't too stupid, and you are nice to beginners.

thx! I'm young, and not that good ... but really trying 2 work on my game. Breaking 100 probly sounds silly to the ppl here (i've been reading for a couple months b4 I joined tonight, and it seems like everyone here shoots 70s or 80s. Can't even imagine how gud u have 2 b to do that). Still, every now and then I hit a perfect shot. So I get the pleasure of golf (it really isn't the score, it is those one or two shots a round, am I right?).

Most interesting stuff I've read here? Ppl talking bout clubs. When I started, I just used my old boyfriends clubs (I'm not that tall, and was just always choking up). a year ago, I went and got my own gurls clubs. Much better. But reading ppl here? I have never had a "fitting" (didn't even know what it was till this site). I think I'm gonna do that this summer. Can I ask you honestly, is it a gimmick, or does it really make a dif?

(See, told u I was gonna ask dumb questions).

It really does make a difference...Not that I am even in the same ballpark as the pros's, they all get fitted, and there is a reason why they do... so if they do it, it would benefit the weekend player as well. Do it, you won't be disappointed. And that wasn't a dumb question. Again, welcome to the board and join in on the bs!

Enjoy your stay here. Take everything with a grain of salt, and have fun. Plenty of info here that will make you sound "in the know" with your fellow players in your 4-some!

A fitting is certainly very helpful. It's simple. Different clubs hit the ball differently. My blades are not going to fly like the big game improvement clubs. You swing the club a certain way and certain clubs will work better for your swing than others. A clubfitter can help you find ones that will help you play your best. I remember when broke 100 for the first time. Today I shot +3. This game is addicting, frustrating, challenging, rewarding and fun. Keep at it and you will absolutely improve. Enjoy the game and I highly recommend a fitting if you are willing to save up the cash. I would add though, at your level, some lessons might do a little better as you will be constantly improving. When I started, I was using a 13* womens flex driver. Now my 9.5 stiff (opened 1.5* so more like 8*) launches a little high for me sometimes. In the span of a couple of years, I have seen people go from 70mph swing speeds to 100. I think once you are sure you have at least the foundation for a swing down, a fitting is a great step to take!
