Do you care where your putter is made?

Some companies use "Made in USA" as a marketing angle, but adding the "by Americans" bit is just pure jingoism. They're essentially saying "we don't hire illegals or even legal immigrants--only US citizens".

Since I've only bought 3 putters for myself in 30 years, and one for my dad, I'm not much of a factor. But, to answer the question, I really don't pay any attention. I buy what I like.

 

Age 12 (42 now), bought an original Acushnet "Rueter, Jr. design" bulls eye flange from another 12 year old that was old then. Used it, and only it, for 26 years. Still have it. Bought it cause it was cool looking. Was given one like it by my ex-brother-in-law, so I've got 2.

 

Picked up a Ray Cook Classic Plus II in Martin's for $50 and used it for the next 6 years with a 4 year hiatus during that time. Bought it cause it was new, cheap, and I wanted to try a heel shafted putter.

 

Just received a YES! Callie this week and actually bought it for 3 reasons: got a great deal, always wanted an anser style putter, and mostly because my youngest daughter's name is Callie and I decided that we will always have this putter. Even got an extra YES! pink grip so that if she ever plays (she's 7), I can give it to her.

 

Bought my dad an Odyssey White Hot a few years ago...not sure which model, but it's the anser style head. He uses that at the beach, and his old original Ping anser style (probably 25 years old) at home.

 

Couldn't tell you where any of those are made. Can anyone tell me?

Canadians, Mexicans, and even Peruvians are ALL Americans. Just ask them - it's a big deal to most of the Spanish speaking peoples. They are Americans too. Just not from the United States.

Great point. I doubt that the company in question is trying to suggest that definition of "American" though.

I really don't care..does it matter where it is made? Sure I'd prefer it made in the USA, but prices skyrocket when they are. Look at Camerons, made in USA with a $300 price tag. I truly don't even know where my clubs are made, I just buy what I like.

I look for quality in products, not country of origin.
