Considering a move to Las Vegas...Cost of golf in LV

Hey Guys,

 

I am considering a move to Las Vegas. I currently live in South Carolina and have for most of my life. I play a lot of golf and i grew up on two of the golf courses around town. I play a lot of golf for a very cheap price due to that.

 

My question is about the clubs around Las Vegas, i'm sure there are some very nice and expensive clubs in the area. I am not interested in those, i'm 26 years old and don't have the ability at this time to spend a lot of money (more than $200/month) to join a golf course. Are there courses in the area that are decent courses (One of the courses i grew up on is a dog track so i'm not a snob when it comes to course condition, however I certianly appreciate and enjoy nice courses), and reasonably priced? Do any of the courses offer junior memberships? Do these courses have large groups that get together at the same time on weekends for skins game or some type of group bet? How are the rates on other courses around town for locals? In Myrtle Beach, where i went to college, it's very easy to find good deals for locals because there are so many golf courses per capita, is Las Vegas anything like that in terms of Golf?

 

Any info you can provide will be appreciated, in general i'm just trying to figure out how much golf I iwll be able to play. How much it is going to cost, and if it will be fairly easy for me to find people to play with. As weird as it sounds, it's going to be a factor in my decision because i enjoy playing golf so much. I think I would get very frustrated if i was not able to play on a regular basis as I am used to.

Been living here in Las Vegas for 4 years. Here is my suggestion:

The best deal is to become a PACC member at Paiute. It's only $299 for a year and the benefits are discounted rounds ($45 Sun/Snow up to $60 Wolf). Paiute has 54-holes with 2 ranges, great bar/restaurant and a range program for $269/year that blows away any course in the area given the fact that all courses here are charging $10-15/bucket.

Another option is the OB Card. OB Sports manages courses here and several surrounding states and you get huge discounts on the local courses. You pay a yearly fee of $99-$129 (depends on when you sign up) and the rounds are anywhere from $16-59.

Another option is the Par4 preferred card. It's $199 for the year. You get 5 free rounds of golf at any of their facilities (Primm Valley, Silverstone, and Badlands). $10 off the resident rate anytime you don't use a free round, and an extended booking window. I know Primm Valley has a weekly skins game throughout the summer. I think Silverstone and Badlands do too.

There are basically three kinds of courses in Vegas:

Pretty good courses that are expensive to play.
Mediocre courses that are expensive to play.
Bad courses that are expensive to play.

Las Vegas used to be expensive for everyone a few years ago. Now I think its awesome for the local golfer. Yes, the courses are still going to cash in on tourists, but as far as local rates go, I would put Vegas up against almost anywhere in the country for the quality of the course you are getting for the price.

Agree 100% with last post. For locals, its fantastic you can't play too many tracks for $16 like I did a month ago at Painted Desert. Best part was I was able to get that rate for even the tourists in town for a convention.

What I hate is that courses gouge tourists but it's better than in the past.

the paiute one would be best for your golf game by far.
OB sports is the most common one, but a lot of dbags.
