Trying to fix an inside takeaway

Looking for a good swing thought

Hey everyone,
First-time poster here. I recently got a video swing app and saw my swing for the first time in years, and I was horrified to see I had developed a terrible inside takeaway. I'm on my way to solving it, but I think I might need some clarification on what swing thought I should have. First, take a look at my old swing pre-fix and my current swing (note that you can go frame by frame if you use the arrows next to the play button):

As you can see, I've made progress at getting more on-plane, but I was surprised to see that I am still taking it too inside. I've been using the swing thought of taking the clubhead straight back from the ball for 12 inches, but I was wondering if you all have a better swing thought to get my backswing on plane. It seems like it's not enough.

Also, I know my backswing is really abbreviated. I'm working on that, too.

Just an addition to your original swing thought, but when at the range place a quarter about 12 inches behind the ball and make sure your club crosses the quarter on the backswing. Helps to see something that you know is directly behind the ball to reinforce you actually are making a proper backswing.

That almost seems like the other extreme to me. In the third picture it doesn't look like his club is parallel with the target line at all. Am I misunderstanding the drill?

Here are my thoughts: In picture 3 the club has not yet reached the point where it will be parallel with the target line, but it will get parallel as the turn to the top of the swing continues. Go to the range and try this. I've had the same problem of swinging too much inside on the takeaway. This is the best instruction I've ever found that solves the problem. Give it a try. The clubhead will feel like it's swinging outside too much, but I'm betting you will be surprised and pleased with the results. Getting the club on the proper plane is going to feel different from what you are accustomed to feeling.

Try the same drill as Boots1302 has suggested ,but instead of a quarter place a small thin bottle about 15 inches directly behind the ball and knock it over going back.
