sirius

thinking about making the switch from fm to sirius.I'm sure other wrxers have this and how do you like it? I'm mainly getting it for the rock music stations.some of the things I've heard is it's pretty easy to install [sportster models] and activate. just looking for some info,also I see they have NFL games on also.

I prefer xm. it has the pgatour.com channel - plus my directv carries xm also.

which ever you get, it is best to pay circuit city or best buy to install - around 75 bucks. the sound is MUCH better when it is professionally wired.

I have had Sirius for about a year now.

If you wants sports, Sirius is it...they have exclusive NFL, NBA, NASCAR (starting in 2007), as well as a lot of college sports. XM is exclusive on PGA, MLB as well as ACC and some other colelge teams. Both share NHL for the next year or two.

XM has a deeper music playlist, but the result is you get obscure music at times that you have never heard. Sirius playlist is comparitively more shallow, so you hear more repeats, but they are usually songs you have heard before. Sirius music is truly commerical free...XM has some music stations with commericals. Both have comemricals ontalk channels...they are direct feeds from networks (CNN, ESPN, etc.)

Both are excellent services, both have almost identical talk lineups...it really boils down to sports for me.

I have a Sirius Stratus receiver...you will likely need the wired modulator if you buy a recent unit...the FCC limited the internal modulator power for both companys. Otherwise, install is pretty straightforward, or you can have Best Buy do it. I am handy and have installed several car stereos before...so I had no problem. Even the technically inept should be able to put one in w/o much difficulty. A wired installis better than thru a modulator on your FM radio.

I do know this...once you choose either company, your listening habits will definitely change.

Could not agree with the above post any more. I will never go back to FM or AM talk --- ever. Makes me wonder how I ever made it without sat radio - Im in the car a lot.

I have had sirius for about 7 months now and I absolutely love it. If you are in it for the rock stations, it is by far the best, because sirius is geared towards a younger audience, meaning more of today's hits, at least that is what i'm told. The comedy is awesome on Sirius. I highly recommend it.

I am looking into the system that plugs into your lighter and mounts to the window.Is this different then a permanent wiring and what about the antenna?

that is the modulator install. the easiest set up, but unfortunately the worst sound.

I have had Sirius for about a year and love it. I have not listened to FM since my purchase. I bought it for Howard Stern, but the sports, comedy and music are great. I had a free subscription to XM when I bought a new car earlier this year and liked the PGA coverage, but that was it. You should be able to install everything yourself without much effort.

I've had sirius for about 4 years. It has the best sports coverage and Howard Stern. I spend 4 or 5 hours a day in my truck. This is my salvation.

well I made the jump to sirius.had my wife order the receiver I wanted since they are on sale until nov.30th for my birthday next week.what can I expect as far as music?
