According to Nike's website, there's only 3 shaft options in both the SUMO and SUMO2. The stock Diamana, the Aldila VS Proto 65 and the Pro Launch Red 65. I certainly hope they offer more than that especially the weighting. Does anyone know if the Aldila NV 75 or the Diamana Blueboard is going to be a factory option like the current SQ?

Looks a bit like a graphite design offering.

If it is a yellow diamana will it be of the same mindblowing standard as the $300 blueboard model or will it be a nike shaft that looks like a diamana???

It's going to be a Diamana shaft made for Nike. Very similar i would imagine to their stock offering on the current SQ's. At address the shaft will look black, with the yellow coloring on the underside.

Holy S$#@!!!! Can he really hit it 500. I doubt that he could. but since he is using this new driver who knows. I thought about getting the SQ Tour w/ diamana but will wait for the new stuff to come out.

Lucky me, my "home" course is against a military runway. So if I push one straight right on the 14th tee, my tee shot easily goes 500 yards.

It's a stock Diamana made exclusively for Nike....At address the golfer view a charcoal colored shaft, while the reverse side is the Sasquatch Yellow.

 

Essentially, the shaft is two different colors, split right down the middle so you don't see yellow when your hitting the ball. Absolute genius as far as marketing is concerned.

I spoke to Nike Custom Shop a couple of weeks ago. The Rep I talked with said that

there will be more shaft options for both new drivers and the new fwy woods.

I gotta say I like this thing. I emailed my nike rep last week about getting one of these puppies. I aslo really like Tiger getting onboard early, great idea by Nike. Who better to help people look at this thing and say "I really like it" That is not going to be easy to do, but Tiger is just he name to do it.

My understanding is that the SUMO2 will be about $400 when it comes out. The regular SUMO will be $300-$350.

 

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes the sumo 2 will be priced at $400 and the regular sumo will be at $299 this was out of the latest golf digest they add a article about the squared drivers and listed the prices for them. The new Callaway squared FTI is gonna be price at $499 OUCH.

I hope TW puts a SUMO in play at his tournament in a couple of weeks, I want to see/hear if TV will distort the reality of how this driver sounds at impact.

 

I hit a few today and OMG...a horrible hollow sound to go with the ugly looks. It's like hitting an oversized aluminum beer can. Of course when TW hits it, it will sound totally different.

 

It's going to be interesting to see how these sell. Nike is taking a risk, but they can afford it. Worse case scenario, they can release some retro Jordans to make up for bad sales if need be.

Seemed to sound and work well for KJ. so long as the driver does not sound muffled I think it will do fine, if the claims Nike is making is true it will only fuel the fire that Nike has brought to this sport. I am a huge Nike nut, easy to tell by what I have in my bag, but I will stay a Nike fan true and thru due to one reason they like to try new things! Keep them coming.

True. But how are the sales of the SQ? Anyone know? Nike keeps details of that pretty well hidden.

 

I play golf once or twice a week and practice another one or two other days. For every Nike SQ driver I see (which is rare), I see dozens of TMs, lots of Callaways, and a bunch of others. On any given day at the range, I might see one SQ.

SQ sales surpassed years sales forcast and the business is up 23%.... pretty good year if you ask me.

What is your point about the rare occurance of seeing a Nike SQ on the golf course? Whould it be safe to say that it also holds true for the "trade-in" shelves at your local golf stores? I have been to 5 states in one week, ratio wise, there are more competitor drivers on the trade in shelves than the SQ..... at least in: California, Nevada,Texas, Florida, Virginia, New York.

Like I have said before, I was not wild about the SUMO 2 look when I frist saw it but... the more I see of it, the more I like it.
