The Most Outrageous Places you've ever tee'd up a ball

I was browsing through a photo album last night and i came across a few photo's of me hitting golf balls. The location was the Grand Canyon....

After driving down the most deer invested road in the world we arrived at the village. It was cold, late and we where both depressed cause we where missing golf. After an un-comfortable sleep we headed up the the canyon... Boy o boy its beautiful....And deep.... After about 30mins the excitement had gone and my mate came up with an idea

"Let's hit ball's into the Grand Canyon".....After a slight pause, we where at the car getting out the sand wedges which we brought with us...

We climbed over a railing and nervously tip toed out onto a ledge... I pulled the short straw and went first.. Through nerves and a bad swing i shanked it... After the laughter died down my mate stood up and ripped this pinacle gold X distance out into the canyon..

Just wanted to share my story...

Anybody else hit balls in a outrageous place?

Teed it up at my grandmother's house in her backyard and hit beaters into the field adjacent to her lot. Rebel! Man I tell ya! (cool)

I teed up about 10 balls on a beach on cape cod, and hit them all into the Nantucket Sound. It was pretty neat because before I could hit anything, I had to make a level "tee box" out of sand because of the steep pitch of the beach. Pretty tough to take a full driver swing, with no shoes or socks, on a square patch of sand you just built up. I wrote little messages on the balls with a black sharpie, so if any of you dive out there, let me know what you find!

It was pretty neat to watch them fly, and I had alot of the beach-goers attention. For some reason they didn't look like they flew too far, but thats because the water goes out forever and a drive out into forever looks like nothing. Had to make sure the coast was clear (pun intended) before takeoff though.

Oh, btw, I forgot to mention that the national parks service would've killed you if they saw you doing that, not even kidding! haha

Chance of a lifetime though

Down my dorm's hallway, out an open door, over the balcony, to the roof of an adjacent building and hit a vent. No drinking involved, but it won a bet...

Just as you say that... after we hit the balls, we headed back to the car for a quick getaway.. we overheard a ranger telling a couple of tourists something that freaked us out a bit! he was pointing into the canyon saying that, that silver shiny thing reflecting in the sun is a hut, where the people are heading...

we asked "What people" he said the people down there

he gave me his binoculars and pointed down... there was a group of people walking in the canyon right below where we where hitting balls :crazy2:..

it didn't take us long to get outa there.

I have a couple.....

When I was a lot younger...maybe 16 years ago or so, we hit a ball or two out of wour back yard. This isn't the country either. Suberbs, middle of Silicon Valley, houses on 1/4 acre lots or smaller. A typical 'football in the street' game went past 3 houses. we'd just bash 'em out of the yard with a driver, and hope they didn't hit anything. NOT too bright.

The second is a little better. We were driving down 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach. Stopped along one of the look outs to check out the ocean. It was late, we had just finished playing Poppy Hills. No one was around, wo we teed a few up into the Pacific from there. THAT was a fun experience. Just hit it as FAR as you can.
