New golf course

Hi everyone. I'm building Sherman Hills Golf Club in Sherman TX and just thought I'd put up some pictures and info about the course as we're getting close to opening now. I've been involved with a few golf course construction projects, Stevinson Ranch in CA #1 new upscale public in '96 and some others and IMHO I believe Sherman Hills to every bit as challenging for the accomplished player and every bit as rewarding and fun for the novice.
The golf course plays from 5570 yards to more than 7500y from the back. Greens are LS44 bentgrass, fairways are hybrid burmuda (Riviera), rough is hybrid bermuda as well (Sundance).
The only forced carry is #11 and from the back it's ~255y, the other tees only 200y down to 50y. It's also the hardest tee shot I think I've played from the back tees. Makes #17 at Olympic Club Lake seem easy now.
I hope to open by spring, but it's all up to the owner.

Semi-private.

We have not set the "official" prices yet, but I project $55 M-Th & $65 Fr-Sun and Holidays w/cart.

Memberships will be offered annually, non-equity, $2000 Single, $2500 Family, $4000 Corp.

I've had groups from Dallas National, Preston Trails, Brook Hollow, Royal Oaks, TPC Craig Ranch; everyone of them have raved about the course.

In 1996 I opened Stevinson Ranch in CA. Itr was the #1 upscale public gc of the year and IMO this is at least as good if not better. The topography here is very good. I know what you're thinking "topography - Sherman?" .....trust me :drinks:

Sherman is an area often overlooked but it does have some fine topography, ideal for a golf course.

FANTASTIC!! As a person who designed and built my own lil' course I can ONLY imagine the headaches/time/energy you've spent on your "baby!" I've spent quite a bit of time in Sherman (Miller Barber was one of my father's closest friends)........bout' time they built a good un' in that area........(Woodlawn look out....hehehe)

I played Stevinson Ranch, I remember it was for some qualifier. Decent course and i am looking forward to this course.

Four golfing friends and I played the course on 7/27/07. The course conditions and layout maybe one of the best in the state. The course fairness and playability is great for all golfers. We thought the design and beauty make for a great golfing experience. Our group can't wait to play it again. Please open soon!!!! Sincerely Larry Simpson

Funny Larry, I think the course conditions are marginal right now; the real course conditions are yet to come. When we have a proper budget it will be a new story.

As to when we open....well, we are working on it. I hope to be able to announce something real soon.

I live in Sherman, and I am yet to play this course. I drive by it every single day and it looks absolutely beautiful. I regretfully will probably never play it though as well as many throughout this area. Most courses we (meaning the people in this area) can afford to pay 35-40 for a course on the weekend. I just do not believe the "average" person will be able to financially play this course. You will get plenty of players no matter what. There are plenty of doctors, lawyers, etc, to play this course. I just hope you have some specials to let the average player come out and enjoy this beautiful course you have put together. Best of luck.

Any info on this place??? Did it change names?? I did a search on Google for it and all I get is a Sherman Hills in FLA.
