8 HCP Help Improve/Criticize My Swing

Iron shots have always been my cup of tea, but when it comes to the driver, thats a whole different story....Am I too steep in my takeaway? I also feel as if I have a problem with early extension with my driver swing. Never had a lesson in my life, so any advice what so ever would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings. Some very nice things about your positions... however:

You have a slightly over the top move to start your downswing, coupled with an early extension of your hips... this is a recipe for inconsistent ball striking.

Also i dont care for the hand position you use at address. They look cupped. Jack Nicklaus kept saying his hands at address should look like what he wanted at impact. What do you thinkg your ball would do if your hands were at impact what they were at address?

Thanks bacination, I see in the videos that my body coils and goes forward a bit before my arms/hands drop which makes my plane to be over the top. Any drills or recommendations as to how to fix this? As I can not feel my body doing this in the downswing...

Well, a lot has to do with sequencing. Your swing is good but the sequence is off because you start the downswing sort of with a forward lean with your upper body.

These kind of nuanced moves are the hardest to get rid of, and confidence shattering to change on the course.

I would suggest working on the range first to change the mental process of your sequencing. You need to find the mental anchors that get your sequence in order with good tempo.

Personally I would try to get the conscious feeling on the range that my lower body moves first while keeping my shoulders turned away from the target. This is a conscious thought that will make coming OTT very hard.

Once you get these small wrinkles out, I predict your hcp will drop rapidly.
