Leupold GX4 issues?

I recently started using the Leupold GX-4. A member at the course I work at had one and was very impressed with it. I used the standard non slope mode and it seemed to be pretty even compared to the Bushnell V2 which is what I've been using. But the slope mode with yellow key is a bit different.

 

I used it today in slope mode and on almost every shot it told me I had a negative degree to the hole. Mean the flag was downhill. Even when I knew the flag was well above me, a club or so, it would tell me 1* incline or 0* incline even though it should read > 5*. Not really sure why its doing this or if possibly its defective. The biggest instance was on a short par 4. The pin read 295 yards without slope mode, With slope mode it was 253 yards because it was about -10 degrees down. Even though the green was completely even with where I was standing, if not a touch up hill.

 

Anyone else have issues with the GX-4 slope mode being a incorrect. I feel like the device the reads the angle in the unit might just be broken or off center.
