New Slighter Putter- Pics

Hi Guys, so I had one very unlucky event, turn into a pretty cool story. I was playing golf a few weeks ago, and using my trusty Tom Slighter putter. I left my bag outside of the proshop and went in to grab a bite to eat.

When I came back, I grabbed my clubs and left. When I got home and began to clean my clubs, I noticed every golfer's fear- some jerk had replaced my custom putter with a two dollar beat up bullseye putter, and put the slighter cover back over it.

I reached out to Tom, annoyed and distraught. I originally asked if he was going to put out any production runs in the near future- I am in my late 20's and a fairly newlywed so my wife would kill me if I dropped the money on a full priced custom model right now.

No production run in the near future- but Tom was compassionate regarding what happened and I got lucky. Tom let me know that he had ONE Tacoma head a mini-tour player had never paid for sitting around in his shop. He actually made it way back in 2004. I couldn't adjust the head, but he would build out to my specs, paint, adjust lie/length, new grip etc. I am not going to say what he charged me- but it was way less than an off the rack Cameron. I really lucked out, because he finished it last night and shipped out this morning. Below are the pics he sent me of the finished club.

I am going to post pics from another club I recently picked up later today. There is a HUGE Bobby Grace collector that I met on ebay, that happens to live 45 minutes from me. My wife and I stopped by his house one evening when we were passing through his town to check out his collection in person- probably 300 Bobby Grace putters (all the rare ones, all new), dozens of pings, Kevin Burns, etc.

I am going to post pics of the club I got- and let people know that if anyone is into vintage putters, to PM me and I will send a list of his inventory. He is in his late 60's and selling off his clubs because his wife has late stage Alzheimer’s and they need the cash to put a down payment on an assisted living home for them. It is a really sad situation.

My limited interactions with Tom have always been very good. Stories like this make me want to buy a custom from him - seems like an all-around good guy. Great looking putter there and hope you enjoy it for awhile!

Just put some specs and requests in to his website. I have to say I have been shopping for a LONG time and everything I saw was far more impressive that mass produced Betti's and Scotty's... Nothing to compare in my opinion to a customized putter along with what appears to be high quality!

Tom is awesome to work with. Very nice, very passionate about his work. His putters are top notch and have not even looked at another putter after the one he built me.

Tom is outstanding in every respect and the nicest person I've ever dealt with, super easy to talk so and so accommodating. He made my first custom putter with personal designs in 2006; it's still in the bag and I still smile when I take off the cover. I ordered a backup in 2009 and left the design to him and it takes my breath away.
