An in depth comparison

OK - so I ordered up a SeeMore putter for fun. I posted how you can get them for less than $50 from TGW.COM with free overnight shipping.
RedX - 33" 350g head, C9.75 swingweight with the standard red babyT grip
SeeMore - 34", 345g head, C8.75 SW, with some huge, heavy Golf Pride SeeMore grip on it - I forget the name but it's a Heavy Grip.

The SeeMore would easily be a DX swingweight with the equivalent weight grip on it and obviously slightly less if I cut it to my standard 33" length.

Toe Hang:
As I've posted before, the Red X hangs about 5* from face balanced.
Shockingly, the SeeMore, which I expected to be face balanced it actually a toe down putter. Hmmmm

Build quality:
What can I say - the Red X is miles and years ahead. The Red X is a beautiful CNC multi part putter with an amazing satin finish. The SeeMore is a clunky cast brass head in a basic square shape (from address and the sole, that is). The SeeMore came with some sort of HUGE black defect on the face - I don't think it's paint but is sure looks like they painted the shaft and forgot to mask off part of the head. Hmmmmm - I may make TGW give me a new one for that since I'm uber anal retentive about my equipment :roll: I apologize, but that's just who I am :crazy:

I had a mini puttoff on my BigMoss Admiral green (6'x15' !!!) I love that thing! Anyway, for starters the SeeMore REALLY is easier to line up and I can really see where I line up a little open. My usual miss that I complain about on this forum is always a touch to the right of the hole.

The speed control goes hands down to the SeeMore - the feel is miles softer than the Red X. I guess Brass really does have that 'feel' that people are always talking about. I'm really suprised at this as just looking at it you would think it's a clunker - basically a big ugly chunk of brass :drinks: Anyway, it feel very soft and has a nice soft sound to it - makes a Titleist Balata ball I have here feel like butta and the Nike One Black feel like one of the old Callaway HX Blue 3pc balls (probably the softest modern ball ever made, IMO).

Anyway, it's ITB for tomorrow so I'll have to let you guys know how the results are.

SeeMore - if you are listening, send me one of those prototypes and I'll gladly put it through the test - I'm new to the product but I think I may love it. I'm trying to be funny but I'd killl to try one out...

Which one do you have? The FGP or the M Series? The FGP is not the most gorgeous putter out here, but as you said....It works. LOL That's the reason there is a SSS Milled version of it in the works rigt now that looks a ton better. Also, the new line is miles ahead of the FGP. The FGP, while being a CS is not a FB putter. The grips that came on them were Huge, new ones are in the works right now that are alot nicer :crazy: On the face, it would have to be from something other than the shaft. The shafts are done in one location, then the clubs are assembled later. In the studio there are boxes of just heads, and boxes of just shafts. I'd send it back to TGW due to the face, or if you could, send me a pic of it and I will see if there is anythingI can do on my end for you.

Why would the seemore be face balanced if the entire system its based on mantaining a consistent putting arch?

He must have used the FGP -- sounds as if he knows little about the history of SeeMore -- but that clunky piece (the black FGP) - it's called a blade - won the '99 US Open and the 2007 Masters.

 

And the putter you tried is more like 320g -- the mFGP is 333g.

 

I don't find it clunky at all -- it's a blade - it functioned well enough to win a couple of Majors.

I really didn't get along with that putter. I like the RedX but what I've been putting with since then is my Ping Tour Issue Scottsdale Anser. It was Ryudji Imada's.

 

Clayton, Here are the specs on the putter.

 

-Scottsdale Anser

-Length 32 1/2"

-Loft Std. 3 degrees

-Lie Std Black 18 degrees (Old Standard)

-Head weight 352 Grams

This putter was made for Ryudji Imada, it has tungston in the toe and heel make to putter heavier and also increase the MOI.
