Airline Problems With My Scotty?

Ok guys, I have a little problem here and I am sure you guys can help. I left sunday for a golf trip to mexico. I just recently bought a scotty studio style before I left. Havent even taken it out on the course yet. Well.... I pull it out of my travel case after we get to the hotel and sureenough when I set it down the toe comes across and I would describe it as a shutting a door type thing. The toe of the putter kind of twists/pivotstowards the heel. Now the thing is, my local club pro said lots of people have this problem because of the way they set up when they are putting. I am wondering if my putter is

a - bent
or
b - fine, its just me setting up wrong

If it is bent, what do I do? I have 21 days to go here and I dont know of a golf shop here. Hopefully you will all tell me its fine and just something mental. PS I have had this problem before and that is what is leading me to believe its mental. Im sure someone with more knowledge then me will know though. HELP

Sometimes when adding loft to a putter it will appear to have a shut face. I'll frequently have a putter adjusted from 3-4 degrees to 5 degrees only to have it adjusted back because of the shut look at address. Don't know if your putter was the original loft or aftermarket adjusted...

I thought the Studio's are set with a pretty decent toe hang for a gated putting stroke. Sounds rather odd though that just setting it down causes it to close. Check the grip to make sure it was put on correctly.

If the toe is closed and it's a scotty I would have to say it's bent!! They are really soft though and easy to bend. I just use two pieces of cardboard(one on the face and one on the back) and clamp it tightly in a vise. Hold the putter shaft near the bottom and bent back towards the back of the putter. Check after each bend to make sure it looks good to your eye. Simple fix.

wow 21+ days of golf in Mexico during Winter, you lucky devil.

 

I would just make sure the grip was put on properly and if you have another putter there take that and see if you have the same problem with that one.

I have had this problem before. It was my hands at address. I was holding the putter too low. Adjust your hands a little more upright and see if that helps. It used to happen to me all the time with heel shafted putters and recently with a scotty circa.

Hmm mixed replies I see.

Haha unfortunately its not a sole golf vacation as a) im 15 years old and cant afford that. b) im here with lots of family so I have to spend some time with them. Either way, 10-12 rounds is keeping me above happy.

To me it sounds more like a grip problem than a bent head. I'd check the grip to see if it is installed properly. They can be off by a couple of degrees which makes a ton of difference. It's really hard to say though without seeig it but I seriously doubt that it is bent. As stated above, it sounds like either:

 

a)the grip on the club being installed incorrctly leading to a closed face

b)your grip on the club being slightly off causing a rotation of the face.

Check grip first, then length and lie angle next.

 

Is it the same lie angle and length as your previous putters?

Ahh guys, now that I think about it, it is for sure the grip! When I had it changed the guy who did it looked at it after and I could sense something was up. Being in a hurry I just took it and headed out. I will have my coach take a look at it when I get back and have it put on properly. Thanks a bundle. Wow what would I do without you guys!!!

 

PS: When I pack my clubs theres no way they can bend. Im kind of insane when it comes to my babies.
