My Dilemma....what to do

3 years ago I made the move to the best course in the area. The course is a fantastic layout, very close to my home and has great facilities. I knew I would miss the 'banter' of the Saturday morning game, but I was convinced I was making the right move for my game.

3 years on and now I'm not so sure. There are a few things that are making me question if I should renew my membership or move on again.

Primary is the condition of the course. For the subs I pay the greens are a really poor putting surface and have got progressively worse over the time I have been there. I appreciate that the UK weather has been pretty poor for the last year and course conditions have suffered but I cannot accept the course condition as it is as value for money. And I don't see it getting better for quite some time.

Secondly a few of the guys I initially played with and enjoyed my golf with have moved on to other clubs. We had a really good group of a dozen or so guys but this has dwindled down. The lack of medal competitions has been a real problem for me, and I ended up playing very few competitions at the club this year.

So my upcoming decision (needs to be made by christmas) is should I stay and give it another year, or should I move on and try another club? There are a number of options local to me, and although the layouts are not quite as good, having played them this year the conditioning is far better, and the number and frequency of medal competitions is far higher.

I appreciate I have to make the decision but anyone with any input or opinions welcome

Sounds like an easy decision to me. Golf should first and foremost be FUN! If you are unhappy with the conditioning and the people you enjoy playing with have moved on, it's likely time to move on yourself. Good luck!!
