Awesome I was in Jamaica last week. I didn't play Negril Hills though. We were in Falmouth and played White Witch, which apparently is the nicest course on the island.

It's not going to ever be on any list of good courses. It's in the hills and farmland. I assume its the lowest cost course on the island and you typically get what you pay for. I would guess the maintenance budget isn't all that much and the conditioning could be improved. That being said the price sounds right, and your playing golf in Jamaica. I still enjoyed my round there.

Thanks; that's about what I expected; I guess anything is better than the outdoor golf in Iowa in January. LOL

[/quote]Just back from a week in Montego Bay as well. We thoroughly enjoyed White Witch. Great design and routing given the course is built on the slopes of very hilly terrain. Would highly recommend.

We also played Cinnamon Hill which was included in the package with our hotel. Very friendly staff and pro (Robert Ames - brother of PGA pro Stephen). Guests are very well taken care of. Course conditions were acceptable but not as good as White Witch.

Enjoy the beaches in Negril! They are the best in Jamaica.

I played Negril Hills while on vacation in Negril over the summer. It was hot as hell so there was hardly anyone there. Let's see, how to describe it... interesting and quirky. You walk into the pro-shop and and feel like your in 1980. Very laid back though and I enjoyed the whole experience. Caddies are a good idea, basically you're going up and down all day so jduging some on the distances can be a little tricky. The greens were in good shape, some of the fairways had some bad spots I think due to some of the extreme elevation changes. The scenery is very nice, and there are times you feel like you're playing in a jungle. My shuttle driver from the airport to the resort knew one of the caddies and hooked me up with him. He let me use his clubs which was cool. They have 2 or 3 levels of rental clubs. The top level looked like 5 year old TM's and they wanted a lot for the rental. If you're picky about clubs then bring your own. Overall, especially if it's included, definately play it. If I go back to Negril I will play it again. The elevation changes can be a bit extreme but it make for some very cool shots. The "vibe," layout...etc make it pretty unique. Sorry for the rambling, not very specific, all over the place description. I definately took part in a lot of the "local custom" while I was there (you'll have to beat the guys away from you on the beach with a stick they hound you so much), so some of my memories are a little hazy. Negril is awesome and you can't beat that white sandy beach. Definately check out the Wild Parrot for amazing food with a super nice owner/staff. They have a very cool outdoor dining area that looks out on the ocean. We ended up eating a meal there almost everyday we like it so much. Where are you staying?

No problem with rambling here; appreciate to feedback from you (and the rest who replied) We are staying at Couples Swept Away: I'm taking my Wishon's. We are going with in-laws and he hasn't played golf in 5-6 years but we went to a range this summer and he's got the itch to play. My clubs are a step(or 3) up from his Wilson Blue Ridge with wood woods so he's fired up!
