Well I finally got to see a set up close and in person. They're a little different than what I was expecting but are good looking golf clubs. Top down is not as sharp as I was expecting but not distractlngly so. They do kinda fall into that category of too pretty to stick-in-the-ground.

Everything is going to resemble something that has already been produced in the "blade" category. I think we've reached the end-of-the-evolution of blade irons. They can be made prettier and out of different types of metals and you can argue standards and quality until the cows come home. But a blade is really a blade. I wonder if the next evolution of blade irons is going to be similar to the fancy scrolling and intricate engraving that you see on high-end custom firearms? I can see players customizing clubs way beyond the typical initial stamps. I don't see it for the masses but I'm betting there is some really wealthy golfer out there that would be willing to pay for something so customized that it would be akin to a fingerprint or golf club DNA. Never underestimate the really rich......

Yeah check out Golds Factory putters. It wouldn't be terribly difficult to get 10k in a putter. Insane. I've got less than 10% of that in mine and I kick myself sometimes for getting it. But it is badass. :)

I don't even consider the Personal to be a blade and I don't know if any manufacturer even makes a blade anymore. Muscle back has become synonymous with blade but even a muscle back is game improvement technology.

On these Personals I'd call them a compact quasi-cavity if I had to define them. A cavity by definition is an empty space. Isn't the dished out hollow area in this irons muscle a cavity by definition? The longer the iron the lower the bottom muscle is pushed for an easier launch. On the 4i nearly all the mass is clear at the bottom of the backside of the head.

It seems as though cavity back has come to mean an iron that has squared edges defining a cavity and a blade as any compact iron that doesn't have a defined cavity. The line has clearly been blurred. Lots of "blades" incorporate perimeter weighting. The heel, the sole, and the toe are all the perimeter. An S56 "blade" used tungsten in the toe and heel and pushes the muscle low for a lower CG.

So yes I agree that true blade technology is dead and has been for quite some time. But the neo-muscleback or "non defined cavity back" is just getting a really good start. I think we will see a lot of forged neo MB with mass pushed farther to the edges, multi material weighting for moi, etc.

Nice thinking laying down a strip of turf so they don't have to touch the ground! Have you had a chance to hit them yet?

At times I get so frustrated that clubs like these are never made available in leftie, but then other times I realise that it's a godsend, as if they were I would be bankrupt and homeless, but with a shelter made entirely from an amazing selection of Japanese forged irons.

Another shunned lefty here. :shok:

Thanks B. I'm either swinging better rusty or these are actually easier to play than my 302s.

The Personal's are definitely forgiving and really fun to hit, they remind me of the 2011 onoff forged and 2012 V forged irons I previously owned.

University of Illinois orange and blue. I understand the colors aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea.

I've got the 3i head, didn't shaft it because I play a UT 21*. Had I known how playable the long irons are I would have had it done.

Thanks guys these are a blast to hit and yes they will be stuck in the dirt...when its no longer frozen. :)

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
