How do you feel about this?

On Nov 12th, I bought a tour model V-Steel on ebay for 100. I paid 23 for shipping (including 8 for insurance). UPS took 5 days to ship it to my house and broke the club in the process. I emailed the UPS complaint form after emailing the seller. Long story short, UPS picked up the club approx 10-12 days after delivery and several phone calls (to the unlisted and private UPS 1-800 numbers) requesting pickup of damaged goods. After retrieving the damaged shipment, UPS sent it back to the shipper (a privately owner shipping center) and relinquished all responsibility based on the claim that the goods were shipped in an old box.

Skipping ahead a couple of months and still, no one accepts responsibility. Plain and simple, facts being facts and all, the clubs was not broken when shipped and the club arrived at my doorstep in two pieces. I paid the bill for the club, the shipping and the insurance. The seller got paid, the shipper got paid, UPS got paid and supposedly the insurance lizard got paid. I say supposedly b/c I specifically told the seller to add insurance to the cost. This was an additional $8 dollar charge, however the seller decided to self-insure (I know this b/c the owner of the shipping center told me verbatim). I paid $87 to have the club reshafted (I kept the head b/c I wasn’t born last night), therefore may grand total for the club was - 100 + 15 + 8 + 87 = 210, not including time, gas, wear & tear.

As stated, I have 210 in this club and the club price was 100. I paid an addition $102, 100%+ more than purchase price, b/c UPS not only failed to complete the compensated task, but, additionally damaged the shipment to the point of uselessness unless repaired. Now instead of UPS paying for the repair, they claim that a less than new box was used in shipment. Therefore, they have no responsibility in the situation. Be careful when making a choice for a carrier, b/c I paid $15 dollars to have my club broken and $87 to have it repaired. Thanks UPS, bang up job, literally.

Sorry about the spelling and grammar, but I'm no poet. I almost forgot, the last time I spoke with the shipping center, the owner told me that the next time I have something shipped to me to make sure the shipper uses a new box. Yeah, I'll just drive by the shipper's house and provide him with a new box next time.

That is some major BS!!! The condition of the box... w\e, UPS just screwed up, and doesnt want to admit it...

If the Seller chose to take your money for insurance, and then not insure (i.e. "Self-Insure"), then it is the Seller's problem. Let him/her argue with UPS. Meanwhile, you should get your money back. Personally, I would have demanded that the Seller send me a check for whatever it would cost to replace the club. I mean, that's what insurance is for, right?

If s/he refused, I would have sent the whole club back via the cheapest postage possible, and if the Seller refused to reimburse me for everything (including shipping) I would file a claim with eBay.

Thats embarrassing for UPS and for the seller. Neither of which stood behind what they were selling/delievering for services.

I couldn't agree more with Charlie Foxtrot on what he said.

BTW sorry to hear you got ripped off.

Shame on the seller for charging you $8 for insurance when the first initial $100 in insurance is provided at no extra cost by UPS. Double shame on the seller since they probably knew that and took you for $8. Triple shame on you for not knowing or telling the seller the first $100 is included. FWIW, A declared value of $100 is free, a declared value of $200 has a surcharge of $1.60.

Shame on the seller for shipping in an old box, it gave UPS an out (not that they wouldn't have said it wasn't packaged correctly anyway to deny your claim).

Shame on the seller for not offering some kind of resolution, I know I would have offered you a choice of a full or partial refund.

Shame on UPS for slow service but IF (I know IF) the seller had used a good box, you probably would have not had to make a claim in the first place.

Anyway..... I hope your v-steel is a money club which makes it a bargain at any price!!!!!!
