Epon AF-103 with TP6HD

finally got a few rounds with this badboy..the best feeling driver i ever hit since my ft9ta with tp6hd. the distance is as long if not longer than my ft9ta. even on mishits it felt great and distance was pretty good too. its not as easy to hit like my r11s but its also not that hard to hit or unforgiving like my ft9ta. lower launch and spin considerably compared to my r11s. next project ryoma d1-premia with crazy cb-80II nero.

Sweet! And yeah, I saw Tario's pics of the Maxima from the Japan golf show. There's only one thing currently that tempted me enough to try it vs. the Premia, and it's the S-Yard designed by the Endo Master Kobyashi. I'm waiting on delivery of it now...

if you're talking about the s-yard 388cc head i would think right away that its not as easy or forgiving compared to the d1 or af103.

Yeah, Tario's blog was the first I read about it, and then followed the thread somewhat. I LOVE my Premia, but like Tario, I find that into wind, when I want to lower the tee, the head gets a little deep. Also the layout at my club asks you to work drives more than crush them. In short, I'm doubtful that anything could take the Ryoma out of my hands distance wise, but since the Grail for me remains to find driver like distance with 3-wd workability, I HAD to give it a shot. Waiting for mine, hoping for this week.

The 103 is my first taste in the world of JDM drivers and Im hooked. Currently have it shafted w/ a Crazy CB80 Noir and liking the results.
I think Epon just might have a fan boy in me.

tried to list my s-yard here but post pulled. below is my comparison.

I'll state outright that both the 103 and s-yard are fantastic! both were 10.5 abd 1* closed. compared over 2 rounds where I mostly hit sard. I have an attas3 tspx in my 103 and the stock gd shaft in the syard so a bit unfair but the syard was a hair longer. I was very surprised at how long the syard was. syard slightly lower launch and a lot more roll....I mean crazy roll! the attas is a high launch shaft and the gdbb is mid in the syard though.

feel both feel amazing. syard slightly more crisp feeling while 103 a touch softer but great feedback for both... I give the nod to the 103 in feel but just by a nose and it may be the shaft in that one.

distance, as stated above, a slight nod to the syard.

control syard, was the winner. out of 34 balls hit with the syard I haven't lost a single one

look, for me it's a dead tie, love the look of smaller head and matte finish of the syard, they are very similar syard just smaller I've had a history with the 103 and the head looks a bit more confidence inspiring, syard more aesthetically pleasing

sound, slight nod to the 103, it's slightly more muted while the syard is a bit more of a crack

forgiveness, the 103 was the winner. it's a significantly larger head that appeared significantly smaller than most 460 heads my miss w the syard was a very low runner

103 will stay the starter for now as I'm playing like a donkey of late abd need the forgiveness....may just Keep the syard for when i get my swing back though as its just so cool

Don't sleep on the RomaRo lineup. Japan's best kept secret is about to become really well known. I have the Ti UT 18 and 21 coming along with 14* Tour Select Fairway and a 460HX 9* driver head which will get an Attas3 7X. As far as I am concerned no one is touching them as far as tech and aesthetics tied into one package now on woods.

i hated the f3. i sold mine. was hollow feeling. if you have a faster tan 100mph swing you will find it very tinny
and light. i added 15 grams to the head it felt weird. egg on the other hand sounded weird but was super forgiving.
just bad off the tee due to shallow head.
