Need first putter for my 7 & 9 yo girls...

Both of my daughters have decided that golf is cool, and want to spend more time with dad. I certainly can't complain about that! However, I am not sure what to get either of them. Nothing I have is anywhere close to being the right size, and I don't have anything that I can cut down either. I would love to find the Kids/Intro to Golf swap-meet threads, but a quick browse didn't find anything.

 

First, how do I fit a putter for kids this young? My 7yo is ~48" and my 9yo is ~53".

 

So, anyone have youth putters that might be a fit that they are willing to either 'Pay-it-forward' (that I will certainly do the same once they grow up) or have something for a decent price? Funds are not very grand for this endeavor yet.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are a ton of great sets made for kids that age that are the right size/weight. The best might be the Nike Kids TW stuff. Callaway...Ping...US Kids Golf is good also. Even the Lynx/Macgregor stuff at Goflsmith wouldn't be bad.

Don't take an adult club and cut it down...the weight will be WAY too much. But really - go to any golf store - they will have something. At that age, all you need is something the right length and weight. They won't benefit from having a Cameron....

I completely agree with the simpler need, which is one reason I am not looking for sets either. I just want a putter for now. Once they get comfortable and if their interest persists, I will add to the bag one club at a time. My issue is knowing what size is right for them. I guess some trial and error is my only real option.

Measure your girls for a proper length putter just like an adult.

I just went back and looked at the first few 'Growing Up Golf' articles here and figured that ebay/US Kids would be my best combination.

Well just in case anyone else is looking for the same thing. I found that Dicks is clearance-ing their MaxFli kids club singles for $8/ea and was able to pick up appropriate sized putters for both girls, now they play putting games in the living room every night.
