Hole In One

had one ? tell the tale.
I like most of you, have never had a hole in one. I have those oh so close stories, but alas, always a brides maid, never a bride in the Hole in One club. Any body had one, more than one, tell us the story about it. Where, when, length and other details.

Golf Digest had the statistics on odds last month.

Tour Player-odds : 3000 to 1 rounds needed 900
Low HDC'er odds: 5000 to 1 rounds needed 1250
Avg HDC'er odds: 12000 to 1 rounds needed 3000

I have a friend that is about a 32 hdcp. He got one the first year of his playing, and I am still without. It just is not fair.

I've had one, very early in my 30-year golf career. It was a 150 yard downhill par three. I sculled a 9 iron and was cussing at it the whole way until it hit short of the green, bounced up and rolled about 25 feet right into the hole :clapping: I am a heck of a lot better now, but just can't seem to get that lucky bounce any more!

Talk about a lucky bounce! THat's unbelieveable. SCULLED A 9-IRON Yet, a HOLE IN ONE! UNBELIEVEABLE!

It's not my hole in one but a regular in my foursome. He's about a mid-eighies and up player...mostly due to his short game cuz he hits it well.

Anyway, we're in Myrtle Beach this weekend. He make an 11 over a two whole stretch.....

We come off the 14th hole a par 5 where he takes a 10! Yep a 10. The next whole is a par 3, he steps up and holes a 7i on the fly!

Just about the coolest thing I've ever seen on golf course.

I had my first one last year. Lucky enough it was in a tournament and I won a trip to Puerto Rico and 36 dozen golf balls. Sad thing is, the next par 3 they were iving away a new truck! 157 downwind, 8 iron. One hopped in the hole. Haven't sniffed one since.

I had one on a 140 yd par 3 with a Wilson FatShaft 8 iron..hit and bounced once in to the cup...3 years ago.

I sold that Wilson set to my dad 1 week later--the first round he played with them--same hole-same 8 iron--1 hop in the hole

The only one him OR I ever had..

I had 2 hole-in-ones last December, within two weeks of each other at my home club in Melbourne, Kingswood.

This first I was having a practice round with my dad on a 140 metre par three. I flush my 6-iron and it was all over the pin. I thought to myself that it probably won't go in so I turned away. My dad's just watching it and it bounces 2 metres short and rolls in.

The second was at a 130 metre par three but the tees were forward. I pulled out a PW and flash it again and slam dunk it into the hole! It left a very big pitch mark that was very hard to fix.

I've been lucky enough to have two.

The first one was with my Mom and Dad at their favorite local course, 160 yards using an 8 iron. Hit a slope left of the green, kicked right and rolled 25 feet into the hole. Great to have it happen with both of them, neither of which has ever had one.

Second one was during our Member/Guest Invitational my first year as a member. The last day of the tourney, 143 yards using a 9 iron, one hopped into the hole. The best part - I won a trip for two anywhere for a golf vacation (my partner called it in the air, we both agreed that I should ask the wife first and he would be the alternate-she went). The worst part - I got the priviledge of buying a drink for each member and his wife and the guest and his wife (VERY EXPENSIVE!!).

I had one in my second year of playing golf. I started playing golf last year and i am loving it. I tried to go to the range on my days off of work and i guess it pays. July 27, 2005 at Eastwood GC here in Rochester, MN, hole #8 par 3 180 yds. I use a five iron and i pulled it to the right luckily enough i hit the side of the hill and it rolled to the left. We thought that my ball went over the green cause we didn't see it. The people ahead of us who were waiting to tee it off on the next hole were watching our shot (i guess for their safety--hahaha), when i came up and look for the ball the two guys said that "i believe your ball went in the cup" at first i didn't believe them, i said i'll check it out here on the back of the green and nothing, then i finally looked in the hole and there it is!!!! A hole in one!!! One of the best feeling that you can experience!!! My first birdie was great, my first eagle was great also but nothing can explain when you hole in one your tee shot!!! But ever since i have come close but no hole in one. It is a very rare to have a HOLE IN ONE!!!!

I got mine while I was playing with my future boss...

I thought I hit it over the green, I almost didn't watch it...spun it back in, just like I'd always hoped it'd be...

You guys that have them are fortunate. I know it will happen for me, it just kills me waiting, thats one of those need to do before I am gone things in golf.

Like first 300 yard drive

First Par 4 that you drive.

First Par 5 in 2

First Eagle 2

First Eagle 3

Hole out from a bunker

Chip in from off the green

I think that is the only missing piece for my need to do shots, at least the most important one.

I have had two and I have been playing golf for over 35 years. My first was on a 125 yd. down hill par 3 on a foggy day, you could not see the green, I was looking for the ball until one of my playing partners found it in the cup. My second one I also never saw, it was a 239 yd. par 3 with a blind green, the foursome coming up the next fairway started yelling "It went in the hole, It went into the hole". Someday I hope to have a hole-in-one that I can see for myself.

That would be a bitter sweet ending, getting one but never seeing it go in, I would still be happy with it though.

I had one that I consider as an unofficial hole in one since it was on a par 3 course. It was during a 36 hole par 3 tournament with skins game. I one-hopped my lob wedge into the hole and won the only skin of the entire tourney so it netted me several Franklins.

I've witnessed couple of flukes, one a skulled 6 iron on rockhard ground that rolled forever into the hole. Other was a bladed 9 iron that slammed into and down the flagstick. Geez.

This year, my friend made his only 2 hole in ones of his life and I was present for both of them, both came during tournaments, last one about 2 weeks ago in MO state 4-Ball tourney. Good thing for him that Branson Creek did not have a bar so he saved tons of money, also it was a good thing that we had a late teetime next day! :clapping:

It's funny that I've eagled par 4 holes over hundred times but never on a par 3 hole. Go and figure that out. I did have a hole in one for a par though, went OB only about 30-40 feet right of the hole and then hit 5 iron 2nd ball 200 yds into the hole for a nice par.

I've had 2, 30 yrs apart! The first was 157yd par 3, into the sun, hit a perfect 7 iron that I didn't see go in because when I looked up all I saw was that sun. the second was 199yd 3 iron that I punched a low hook into the wind, hit the front of the green and rolled right into the cup. Just lucky is all I can say.
