I hate the golf coverage right now!

I was wondering when the first tournament of the year will be broadcasted on cable tv. I do not have the golf channel, but do have XM. I am just really missing watching golf on tv. I hope they the PGA will drop the contract with the golf channel. Im sure it is excellent coverage, but not everyone has a dish. Anyone else in the same boat I am. Just my 2 cents. What does everyone else think on this subject.

TGC's contract with the PGA is for 15 years, so I wouldn't count on it getting dropped.

 

Do you have cable? Comcast owns TGC, so I'm sure it's available on cable. If not, Sat and Sun coverage on network TV starts soon.

Yep - it's on cable - My brother-in-law has it @ his house.

 

I like the fact that the first two rounds will begin on TGC. It gives them the ability to rerun rounds later in the day or some other time. Its better than watching Tigers Prowl over and over.

 

Plus - I like that fact that I don't have to check ESPN, USA, or TNT for coverage...I just turn it to channel 605!.

You have to remember, the TH/FR coverage is coverage (for most tournaments) we wouldn't see anyway.

 

I'll gladly take the golf channel coverage over not seeing it.

 

The nets will take over on the weekends.

 

And who doesn't have cable or satellite these days? I know there are some, but most sports fanatics should have it.

Sorry but I can not watch the PGA golf tournament coverage. I just can't make more than an hour with Cutsey Faldo and his yes woman Kelly are just plain unbearable. Their little SNL skits are just plain idiotic. IMO---take the worst coverage you have ever seen and double it with these morons. Thankfully we can still watch Mr. Laidlaw on the European coverage. You aren't missing a thing.

 

 

Bring back Tirico and Azinger to shut Faldo up, put Kelly back on the Grey Goose panel where you can turn them off after 3 minutes.

 

Also I would rather follow golf on my cell phone than try and listen to XM golf coverage. YIKES.

the picture quality is terrible in the UK for PGA events...real nasty low bit rate

 

it was poor when it was on sky sports and it's no different on setanta golf.

 

i saw a review of the ryder cup in HD a few weeks ago and it makes you sick why all events can't be shown in this quality with all the money involved.

I think Kelly and Nick are doing fine. Their timing and interplay gets better with every tourney. Gotta give TGC a little time to work the kinks out.

Kelly needs to stop deepening her already deepened voice. She's always trying to make someone sound more important by saying things an octave lower. That's the only gripe I have on her.

This is a bummer for me to say because I really think Kelly T is probably a very nice person but I don't think I will be able to make it all season with her.

I think the coverage is very good. I think Nobilo and Rocco do a great job on the course; and I think Faldo is the best lead commentator on any network. Tilghman, while she isn't perfect, is certainly tolerable. And I think given the fact that its her 3rd event we should cut her some slack.

I don't think the problem is her knowledge of the game. The problem is with her on air delivery. I think she is getting better but she is still inclined to bring too much to the statement. This is a game not world peace. She reminds me of Bill Walton announcing an NBA game. Thank goodness she is better than that but she tends to lean that direction. Lighten up.

 

I'm sure they have an agreement to sell the Fed X Cup but really - who cares. Show the golf. Show more shots, less putting, fewer interviews. And I'm not sure I like that putting graphic they are all so impressed with. The goal is to put it in the hole. It's somewhat distracting seeing the line placed over the green.

 

I agree we can cut some slack but when you build it up like they did you raise expectations. Plus we are used to some very good coverage from the major channels. Rocco is good as is the guy from the Nationwide Tour, sorry I can't place his name. Tilghman needs to get it together without going off the deep-end as much or people will stop watching.

She did say something at the end of the coverage the other day that was like "that's all you have to put up with us for now" I thought truer words have never been spoken. Weekends and taping from now on.

I'm sick of Faldo's vioce impressions. His accent is fine with me, but at some points he'll just go off and speak in a deeper british or scottish accent just to be funny, but its not.

Not gonna happen. Ratings for these events are driven by the celebrity golfers because the average fan wants to see them play. In fact some of the average fans want to see them hack it up more than they want to see the golfers play well. So celebrity coverage is going to continue to be there and may even expand.
