Would we class titleist 735 cm as classics yet?

How many more years before we class these beauties as classics? In my opinion the best combo set ever produced?

Funny enough I'm watching a set of those. Had them when they were first released. Maybe.........

I have had numerous sets from the bay! Best were a beaten up set of chromes with x100 shafts, there were the straightest ever! Pushed them on though as some of the shafts were badly pitted!!

Hmm, I'd say a golf club doesn't become classic until at least 15 year, more like 20 years, after they were made. So 2021-2026 or so

I think I will keep mine then! I love these irons, there were two versions though I believe? A stainless and a forged.

mine are forged, matte finished......I honestly can't hit them anymore like I used to.

Cannot wait until I get some cash to get the AP2's

I owned 2-PW 735 CM.. no I do not think they will be considered "classic". They were an outstanding combo set though.

While I wouldn't mind owning a set, I don't think those will be "classic" in the context of this sub-forum. On the other hand, I think any of their forged muscle backs already qualify as "classic". Just my opinion and admit that in another post, I do consider the stainless PING putters from the early-mid 80's to be classic.

Good, but not classic. The 735s have many design features and angles I would personally change before I would call them great. I played a set for a few seasons and while I was insanely excited to get them the cool factor wore off fast once I learned more about what I like in the shape of an iron. From address they look boring and generic for a blade style -- the crotch (where hosel meets topline), leading edge and toe curve is boring IMO.


Being that there are so many great and older irons I feel the 735 CM will just be remembered as a good combo set before stickers and glued on badges got popular.
