Best course around Vacaville.

I'm coming to CA for a week because my mom is getting married. She lives in Vacaville and was wondering if there are any courses worth playing around there. I know San Fran is close and I'd Like to play Harding Park, but it comes down to how much time I have to sneak away while the girls are at a spa day.

 

I'm a mid handicap if it matters.

Lots of golf available depending on how long they intend being at the spa.
Nearest is probably Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley in Fairfield, 20 mins West on 80. Muni courses but pretty decent.
Little further gets you to Hiddenbrooke near Vallejo or over to Napa and Silverado, Chardonnay or Eagle Vines.
Roddy Ranch down near Brentwood is a pretty good track too.

An hours drive in the other direction would get you to Auburn and Darkhorse or The Ridge.

Yocha De He is about 45mins north of vacaville and would be worth considering.

Now if they are going to be at the spa all day then that would just about bring a trip to Monterey into the equation :-)

Lots of good golf courses about and usually a lot of good deals via golfnow hotdeals.

I live North another hour or so and make the trek that way to play Rancho Solano and Paradise Valley all the time. I love those courses and they are great for a mid capper

Thanks guys. My moms reception is actually at Paradise Valley so I will likely play that the next day.

I heard Chardonnay is really nice.

How do courses over there feel about singles? Here in Iowa the courses aren't consistently jam packed so singles play all the time. I don't mind getting paired with others, but will the courses mentioned need to know in advance, ie tee time and I'm playing as a single?

I would get on golfnow.com. A lot of the tee times are for more than one golfer, but there are many single rates available. Rancho and Paradise are on GolfNow.

As for Chardonnay... a little quirky but a nice track. Lots of skins games. That place use to have 36 holes, sold 9 where Johnny Miller was brought in to design Eagle Vines (nice track, IMHO a little quirky in some places i.e. #9 approach), then (Chardonnay) let another 9 grow over. I'd probably pick Eagle over Chardonnay and both are on GolfNow. I personally like Kennedy in Napa (Napa's Muni?) but it's on average not as in good a shape as the other four courses mentioned in this post.

Yocha DeHe is a must! I would rather play Eagle Vines over Chardonay!

I think Yocha DeHe and Paradise Valley are a lock. Especially since I'd like to try the new Callaway offerings and Yocha DeHe has them as rentals. I anyone wants to golf May 16th thru 22nd let me know.

Grew up in Vacaville-- Yocha DeHe, Chardonnay, Hiddenbrooke, Eagle Vines, and Roddy Ranch are all courses I'd recommend. I've never had issues getting on as a single, either... you should be fine.

Delta View GC in Pittsburg has a front 9 that was created by Alister MacKenzie and is pretty cheap. The course conditions is questionable at different times of the year. The front 9 is great... I love it. The back 9 is a bit... lackluster.

Yoshi, I believe the back 9 at Delta was designed by Mackenzie. It is the side with all the undulating greens.
