Yesterday at the Buick

I went to the Buick yesterday. Worst day for pictures ever! Stupid pro-ams, 1 pro 4 Ams. Took forever to see everyone. It seemed the caddies knew I was around and always turned the bag the wrong way. I will get some of the better pics up soon. Here are a few prelim tidbits:

Vijay is using a Diamana Whiteboard in an original HiBore. No XL this week.

Tiger was back to the Diamana. I believe he tried a TT Epic shortly. Saw a pic on here.

David Duval had a Accra SE80 with some kind of writing below the (SE80) More to come.

Saw a cool new Cobra driver, lots of yellow on the sole, J.B. and Camillo both had one.

J.B. Holmes is using a Diamana, not sure if that is news to anyone.

Still saw lots of Cleveland Golf staffers. Jerry Kelly (using TM driver still,) Rod Pampling, some Euro guys. CG still has tour presence.

That's all I can remember now....back to work. I'll post more tonight. With Pics!!!

i talked to the cleveland rep and he told me sometime ago about vijay using the diamana shafts.

Predictions:

Let's see, Duval was tearing it up!

John Daly was 4 under through 9 holes.

J.B. Holmes was driving it VERY well!!!

Tiger was ok, his driver was all over the place.

Jerry Kelly lipped out an ACE on the south course. Striking the ball well.

Maybe I'm naive.....but I would think that manufacturers would encourage players to show off their bags?

They don't want you to know about the latest and greatest, they want you to go buy what's on the shelf that their customers have to offer for sale. If you know what was coming out soon, you'd wait and buy that when it came out. I'm sure you could write an encyclopedia about this topic if you'd do a search.

Thats weird, I went yesterday and found getting pics of Tiger very easy. I got there at 6:00AM and watched him tee off. Then as we passed other fairways,I got pics of Jose Maria, C. Howell and T. Pernice. Any of you guys playing T/P next week?

I went tuesday and saw JB playing the new cobra with a protopype NV in his driver (hit it very long and very straight, then my buddy last night said that he was talking to a cobra tour van guy and they made him a driver with a diamana in it. from what I've heard, he plays whatever people hand him.......and hits the crap out of it.

vijay was doing that when he won the pga champ at whistling straits.

Kelly played a Titleist for most of last year. You can search Getty images and see pics from the John Deere. PGA, and even the Funai.

He switched to a HiBore XL for the Shark Shootout. Staff at Cleveland sent out a notice that week that Kelly was using it and that Ken Duke had it in the bag at the NW Tour Champ.

Kelly had it in the bag for Kapalua and Sony..not sure about this week but I would assume by the quote below that he is fairly content.

Second Time's The Charm: In a tournament where driver doesn't come out of the bag on too many holes, Jerry Kelly couldn't stop talking about his new Cleveland HiBore XL driver.

Similar to the one Singh used to win the Mercedes-Benz Championship last week, the driver helped Kelly led the Sony field in driving accuracy and a tie for 13th overall.

"You have got to be able to control your ball," he said. "The only way to do that is from the fairway. The new Cleveland driver is fantastic compared to the old one."

Kelly said he used the first-generation HiBore driver and would hit the ball high with lots of spin or low with little spin. Control was more difficult.

"The way they built (the original driver) was to lower the sweet spot and make it bigger," he said. "Well, something happened on the inside. That didn't work out."

But, he said, that got fixed with the new club.

"They built a club on the computer the first time and they built the club with me and Vijay telling them what it did in competition the next time. I think it's best for a company to, if you're going to launch new technology, to probably get some player input and see how it works in the real world. It's a fantastic idea, I think it's revolutionary and it's showing up now.

"All I care is that they got it right," he said. "They definitely got it right. It's a good stuff."
