HELP ME FIND A HOUSE IN HOUSTON!

All right guys..seems I am about to move to Houston and need some advice on where to move. I am looking for a "NICE" golf community to relocate to. I would like it to be in a gated community and I want to stay in the price range of $275K - $375K. Can some of you Houstonians give me a run down on some of the nice courses with housing communities in the area? Also I would like to keep the golf membership reasonable. (UNDER $25K to join). Lets the advice begin..Thanks :drinks:

Which part of Houston? I've heard that the Houston metro area is larger than Rhode Island. I'm not sure if that is true or not, but it routinely takes an hour an a half to get from the north side 'burbs to the south side burbs.

Keith you're right, Rhode Island has a 1044 square miles in its proud state while Harris County alone is sprawls over 1728 square miles.

I think it would be wisest to pick a location fairly close to where you will be working, traffic is a pain and construction in certain areas, while unavoidable at times, is best minimized.

If you can give us a general area of where you will be working, I'm sure we'll be able to give you plenty of info. :drinks:

Sorry guys, I guess I should have given the general area. The office is near the intersection of 290 and Beltway 8...so I guess that Northwest Houston. So far we have looked at several of these areas on the internet

NorthGate- Houses are a little out of my price range and even if I was to find a house, the 100K I would have to spend for a membership wouldnt allow me to have electricity or water. :drinks:

Blackhorse- Really like the look o fthe course, but wonder since its public, does the course stay in nice shape with all the play?

Augusta PInes- Think that was the name..not fimiliar with this one. Saw it on the internet and the houses seemed really nice. Noticed that the senior tour has an event there...couldnt find info on memberships though.

Any other suggestions would really help..and I hope I can get together with some of you after I get there for a round or two.

290 and 8 Is a great area. I grew up out there and have many a great memory. Drew (he's no longer on here) lives in Coles Crossing and I think IlliniKyle lives in Jersey Village. Northgate has nice houses but the club is not that expensive and to my is far to crowded. Augusta Pines is okay but it would a hike to 290 and 8. Blackhorse is nice, 2 of the best public golf courses in Texas right there. I don't know what you want to spend but Twin Lakes is a nice gated area but not adjacent to any courses. If I can be of any assistance feel free to ask.

Champions has homes in that price range, is close to Beltway 8 - 249. Also, I hear that it is reasonable from a cost standpoint.

My office is very close to yours and I live in that area. There seems to be a ton of great golf around here. I definitely agree that the champions area might be worth a look. Let me know if you have any more questions about the area and I will help you out. Also when you get in to town be sure to send me a message and we will hit a few.

We have looked at Champions ...I understand that there is really great golf..(alot of good players), but most of the houses are really old. Im looking for new or newer construction due to the fact that I really dont want to purchase someone elses problems. Thanks for your imput.

Champions does have mostly older homes, if you want newer you would probably be best served looking out in the Barker-Cypress, Spring Cypress, Cypress Rosehill area.

There are a lot of neighborhoods within a reasonable distance from Champions that are much newer than the immediate area surrounding the club.

Search on http://www.har.com/cs_singlefamily.htm and the area you are looking at is #13 on the map. My aunt and uncle live a couple miles from Champoins and Ravenaux CC (another option you may want to look into), and there is a lot to choose from. Glennloch (sp?) Farms is a newer neighborhood with a decent public course, but is relatively close to Champions, as well.
