Teeing off from PA

Hey All,

 

Just joined up here. A little background on myself....I've been playing golf on and off since I was around 10 years old I would say (20 years old now). My dad is a decent golfer and taught me everything I know. Up until last week I was playing an old set of Tommy Armour Silver Scot 845s with shredded grips, a walmart putter and wedge, and a 15 dollar driver with no woods. That combo had me shooting in the low 90s high 80s for a while.

 

Now that I am in college, I have developed much more respect for the game and have really been getting interested in becoming a respectable golfer. I started playing much more this semester since my school has two 18 holes on campus and offers a killer deal on semester long memeberships. Got myself down into the low 80s consistently with those old clubs, and this is what really started the fire.

 

Now that I have been putting the time into practicing/reading about golf, and have seen the results, I have just been thinking about it non stop. Got a sweet internship again this summer so I took my first paycheck and may have splurged a little. Here's what's in the bag now

 

Driver: 09 Superfast Burner with a stiffer shaft

Irons: Mizuno MP-59 3-PW with Tour issue s400 shafts and golf pride chord grips :clapping:

Wedge: 52* Cleveland 588 forged (really need to get one or two more)

Putter: Odyssey White Hot Pro in the mallet shape.

 

Needless to say I am more than excited. Turns out I needed 2* upright lie and +1/2" on the shafts. I learned how to take a proper divot and have changed my swing up a bit and I am hitting better than ever. I can work the ball and everything. Took em out after work and managed to get 6 holes in before dark at the local course. I was 2 over through 6 and that was all because of poor judgement and mental things.

 

Anyways, I have been hitting the driving range during my lunch hour and am really going to focus on bettering myself. I would like to get myself a handicap this summer so I can hopefully get into some local tournaments in the near future. I never played highschool golf because it interfered with Ice Hockey so now's my time to shine I suppose. It's all about fun though at the end of the day.

Hey Ty, what part of Pa are you from?

I was hockey first back in the day, now it's golf first and hockey second.

Right now I am in SE PA but I go to school in Central PA. And I am right there with you. Golf before hockey haha.
