MIURA GOLF CB-501 and PP-9003 in BLACK BORON

Recommended Posts

Hmmm... for durability and beauty, I think there is nothing like a Miura Chrome Satin.

Boron looks good ... just need to accept that dirt, pebbles, and sand will wear your babies.

Couldn't wait for the black finish as they wouldn't even give me an estimated date. I have however been the proud owner of pp9003's for two weeks now and couldn't be happier. I guess being in the SF Bay Area, there are quite a few Japanese and foreign players and my first trip to the range it got instant attention and I saw I wasn't the only jdm gamer (another was playing onoff).

Two concerns:

1. PP9003 is the best iron I've owned. That's not saying much as my last set was Callaway X10 but I've been loaned a lot of great sets. Anyway, I worry because I hear there are a lot of even better irons and I'm real close to buying another set even though I'm super happy with the Points.

2. Am I the only one who feels remorse at having hit their irons? I wish they were still brand new so I could just stare at them pristine...

No remorse.

Picked up a second set of PP-9003 that someone turned in for 501's -- the 9003 had about 2 rounds in them - club maker made the set to my specs.

As to the latest and greatest? Yes, they're tempting. But they are irons, and when your set is 5-PW, I'm not going for distance although these are long for me; I'll let the fairways and hybrids do that. I'm not a flavor of the month type of guy unless it's a driver.

As to a questions of whether the 9003 are relatively forgiving? Yes. More bounce, high toe, nice sized cavity, and normal offset in a traditional fashioned club (i.e. no whiz bang tech and materials). The more I play them (2.5 years), the more I like them. Just wish as they moved to higher lofts, that the high toe receded to blend flawlessly into a wedge set. But what the hey ... when you're hitting them, you want them to perform. They look excellent to my eye.

I flirted with some Epons for a bit but as the weeks have gone by, my PPs have started to dial in, both in performance and feel. Where I found them to be just on par with other top clubs (Mizuno, Bridgestone DPC) in the beginning, the PPs have given me some remarkable shots in the last few rounds and I feel they're getting better with each game.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
