Bellevue wa here I come

Recommended Posts

I posted a few months back that I might be moving to the Bellevue area. Well everthing worked out and I will be moving there at the end of the month from Florida. I will be working in Bellevue and looking to move to an area near there which will be close to golf courses. Any suggestions? Also if you do respond with an area can you also give me an idea about the comuting time to Bellevue from there. Thanks again.

Welcome to the Puget Sound. I think that if you got a place in Bellevue you would be centrally located to anything in the region. I recommend that if you work in Bellevue find a place relatively close to work and that you can avoid toll bridges and freeways (traffic can be absolutely horrific). Which part of Bellevue will you be working?
BTW you will love it here, just buy decent rain gear.

I will be working down town off 8th. I would love to live in Bellevue but man homes are $$$$ there. I was thinking maybe something to the east, like squa/fall city.

I can't wait to go wheeling there.

oh yeah, real estate is kinda spendy over there. There are pockets of Bellevue that are not as spendy. If you look at the Crossroads area(due east on NE 8th) or Factoria (405 and I90 intersection) rent could be manageable. Near Fall City there is Snoqualmie Falls Golf and Mt. Si. SF is pretty straight forward, muni like setup. Mt Si is pretty fun and you get to use every club in your bag. Also close to FallCity are TPC Snoqualmie and Sahalee if you want to go the membership route.

If you are commuting to downtown Bellevue during core business hours it is not going to be a fun drive from Fall City. The 405 and I90 intersection that Dr. Shankenstein talks about is a pain. With no traffic the commute would probably be 20-30 minutes and with traffic you will want to learn the through town roads.

Mt. Si is a great course I like driving out to North Bend every once and awhile to play there. There is also Twin Rivers across the river from Snoqaulmie Falls which is pretty flat and pretty cheap to play. There are also a few private clubs around the area like TPC Snoqualmie, Sahalee, Aldarra, and The Plateau Club.

I'd say if you want to be around a lot of quality golf courses and be close to Bellevue, I would try and stay around Bellevue, Factoria/Newcastle, Redmond, Kirkland, and Bothell. These areas also come with a spendy price tag if you are looking to buy.

Welcome to the great northwet!

Other than traffic, housing prices, traffic, housing prices, the occasional snooty individual, and the traffic, other than the housing prices, the eastside is pretty nice!

j/k

I don't have much to offer in the way of advice really for that area. There is golf ALL OVER up here. Do you want to stay metro or are you looking for a bit more small town feel, or rural?

If you want (decent) conditioned championship golf close to Bellevue, you're either looking at the OKI golf courses (Redmond ridge, Newcastle) or going private. I hear that some of the private golf courses have slashed their initiations though.

Willows Run is a decent course and close to Bellevue. The Seattle muni's are OK but get packed on the weekends (5 hour plus rounds).

If you are like me, however, you'll find yourself traveling 60 minutes plus to travel to golf courses on the weekend. The best public golf is on the Olympic Peninsula, down in the Tacoma/Auburn area, and up in Whatcom County...unless you want to do an overnight trip to the east side of the state.

I lived in downtown Bellevue. Sammamish. Kirkland. Close with good twilight rates is willow. Bellevue muni is average. After that you have a few very nice private courses like mentioned. Sahalie. Aldara. Snoqualmie ridge. Overlake. Ect. Some crappy courses. Snoqualmie. Mini. Twin rivers.. Mr si. Ect. And pricey. Oki courses.

Well I have yet to play, the weather kind of blows. No offense, heard the heavy rain is rare but I will keep trying.

The name of the game now will be to find a course that drains well. Luckily green fees at the better courses are going to get a lot cheaper now that we're rolling into October.

Monitor this thread for course conditions, and feel free to add your own.
