Chambers Bay/Seattle stay and play?

Doing a quick hit buddy trip to Chamber's Bay in 2 weeks. Looking for suggestions on where to stay and play in the area. Is it better to stay in Seattle and drive or Tacoma? Heard the The Home Course, Golf Mtn and others in the area are good. What are the top three to play? Not sure when I will be back in NW again. Also, suggestions on where to stay are good too. Don't worry about cost.

I know Hotel Murano has stay and play deals. I've stayed there for a conference and I liked the hotel a lot.

However, If I had to pick, I would play Chambers.

If money isn't a concern, I'd imagine you want to make an actual trip out of it so stay in Seattle. Driving to Tacoma or in that direction once or twice isn't bad at all, about 40 minutes without traffic. If you go the Hotel Murano route like suggested above and stay in the Tacoma area, which may be better if it's a more golf focused trip, play the Home Course, other options would be Salish Cliffs, Gold Mountain, and Washington National.

I played CB yesterday and it was absolutely beautiful. Drive was super easy. I'd just rent some lodging on airbnb.com and then rent a car to do the drive. Seattle is a much more lively place at night.

The chambers bay stay and play deal with hotel murano is a great deal. Two nights there with a round at CB will more than pay for itself. Plus a round at the home course and golf mountain.

I'll be playing CB Sept 8. Any recommendations on how to get the most out of the experience? a caddie?

Definitely get a caddie. I'd recommend J.Z. or Matt. G. as caddies that I've had. Both are great, been at the course for a long time, and are pretty laid back. Also, if you're looking for other courses, I'd recommend Salish. I just played a tournament there on Saturday and it's one of the best public courses in the area, and it's in great shape (we've had a really good summer, so almost every course should be in good shape). Washington National is a fun course, and I'm somewhat partial to it since it's the UW's home course, but if you only have 3 rounds to play I'm not sure that I'd choose it to fill out your trip when other more 'northwest' type courses are available.

Also, in terms of where to stay, it's true that Seattle is a much better place to stay, but be wary of the traffic on weekdays. I'm convinced there is a subset of the Puget Sound population that is paid to drive no faster than 50 mph at all times during the week. The commute should be fine on the weekends, but during the week it's more like 1 - 1.5 hours Seattle to Chambers depending on the time.

Thanks chrndwg. Going on vacay with my g/f and playing 1 in Seattle and 2 at Bandon on our way down PCH to San Fran.

Day 1 we are see Olympic Natl Park, Sunday is CB in the afternoon, Monday is Seattle sightseeing. Tuesday we head south.

Back from vacation in the great Northwest....Played Chamber's on Sat 9/7. Had a great time, played OK too. Love the crazy greens and a couple of the fairways diving through dunes are pretty cool. Cant remember my caddie's name right now, but he was fun. Some part time caddie that is in school for turf and is a superintendent assistant.

Played Old Mac and Pacific Dunes later in the week, those courses are AWESOME!
