Looking for a good course around $100

Hello All,

Topic says it all, will be playing somewhere next wednesday, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Not looking far a big challenge, more scenery and convenience to Scottsdale

I always enjoyed the Karsten Course at ASU in Tempe. $92 for non-residents during the week. The 16th is one of the toughest par 3's around.

If you can do later in the day (twilight rate) you can play Sunridge Canyon up the road in the Fountain Hills area. Really nice course and views. Highly recommended.

If scenery is what your after...

 

try eagle mountain golf club. Go here to their site: http://www.eaglemtn.com/greens_fees_reservations/

 

do a search for soaring speacials...you can get some good deals...it is all the scenery you would hope for and a fun layout. On and in the mountains overlooking mesa etc. Would take you maybe 10 minutes to get there from Loop 101 and Shea Blvd. Its right off Shea on the way up to Ftn. Hills.

 

I am live in Scottsdale and there are plenty of nice courses this time of the year. If you have any questions or need anything please PM me, I'd be happy to help you out.

Vista Verde...just opened. doesnt even have a clubhouse yet. long + tight fairways. definitely the hardest course I've played. I believe the slope for the regular men's tees is 136 or 140. in the middle of no where w/awesome views. its probably a 30 minute driver from downtown...

i thought desert canyon was a pretty enjoyable course, too. lots of elevation changes in this course. cheaper than vista verde... its a public course so it wasnt very expensive. much easier course than vista verde too. its located in fountain hills (15-20 minutes from scottsdale)

Check out Rancho Manana in Cave Creek, very close to Scottsdale. It was not the toughest course but the elevation changes and scenery made it worth it.

Granted, I'm not a Scottsdale local, but for the money, here are a couple of my favorites:

 

Longbow (/www.longbowgolf.com) Never hear much about this one, but very enjoyable. I think there's some sort of helicopter factory/base nearby.

 

TPC Scottdale Desert (http://www.tpc.com/daily/scottsdale/desert_course.html) Totally different than the Stadium course, but IMHO much more enjoyable and a far better value.

 

Sedona Golf Club is super cool, but a really long walk from Scottsdale. ;) Unless you're traveling with your wife and have an entire day to burn, probably not what you're looking for...

 

I've played Rancho Manana too...I'd agree that there are plenty of elevation changes and views, but the course isn't on my list. No offense, but I thought it was a bit too tight and blind to play enjoyably without a lot of local knowledge.

 

I also really like the Phoenix muni Papago...

I agree, out of those 4 listed , take Karsten.

Out of those four Karsten, but I'm not a Karsten fan. I'd go out to Papago before Karsten.
